Video game thread

I ordered Lost & the Damned for Xbox One.
 
I had this problem with a CoD game, it would only play on 360.
 
Hopefully I can finally play it with headphones.
 
What I have is an Xbox One S. If it doesn’t play, I’ll have no choice but to bring in the 360.

Outstanding.

Doom 3 had better lore, while Doom Eternal has better gunplay for the most part. DOOM 2016 is somewhere in the middle for me. As for the DLCS for Eternal: a lot of what I’ve seen and heard is mixed at best.

Doom 3’s major failing was always its gameplay. Making the whole game slow, plodding, full of enemy closets and enemies that spawn behind you out of nowhere was a very awkward experience and a bit of a slog. A decent game overall, but it feels really bad for a Doom game.

Doom 3 is one of the only games to ever make me motion sick. I’m not sure what it was, but I couldn’t play it at all.

Probably the frame rate combined with the lighting. It always made me feel a little weird. Not sick or anything, just… weird.

I hope they did learn, and that this is actually going to make for a good console. Especially since it could lead to more devs putting in effort to build their game for linux.

Yeah, it’s an attempt at horror shooter rather than meat shooter like what Doom always was. Meanwhile DOOM Eternal is basically updated Painkiller.

Unfortunately, Valve’s kinda doing the exact opposite. Rather than producing native versions, Valve touts Proton (its compatibility bridge) and most developers rely on it “just working” rather than producing for a platform which hovers at sub-3% of the gaming market. And being a SoC computer just screams “planned obsolescence” which never sits well with the PC crowd.

Doom Eternal was too arcadey for me, the candy coloured pick ups just rubbed me the wrong way. The flowing game play is nice but the atmosphere, especially of knee deep in the dead is what drew me into the original doom game and was what I liked about 2016.

Oh shit. Someone’s remaking Baldur’s Gate 2, expansions included, as a module for Neverwinter Nights 2. Looks pretty good so far. I recognize a lot of those places so they seem to have the environments down, at least.

I wouldn’t put it past them. There’s been quite a few games that had their own Steam pages only to announce that they were going EGS-exclusive a week before release. Those go on my “never buy” list.

Happiness is Mandatory, you mean? For me a big one was Satisfactory. There was another but the name escapes me at the moment (probably because I was woken up for no reason at three hours of sleep and I’m just treading water for 20 minutes ’til I can go back to bed)..

Borderlands 2, Salvador.
 
I highly recommend shotguns, I’m at level 41 dishing out maybe 10,000 damage per shot, debilitating full body damage at mid-range, Jakob’s triple barrel is my choice, that money shot helps a lot and you have an extra gun ready, Torgue four barrel’s reload can be bypassed if you get a kill, I have six child grenades mod, welcome to the danger zone.
