Ike Perlmutter, owner of Marvel Comics and head of Disney’s Marvel Entertainment division, has been
laid off. Marvel Entertainment is being dissolved and folded into other operating units.
WDW Pro has been reporting for a while that MCU Phase 4
lost money on every film except for Dr. Strange and Spider-Man. Other outlets have started picking up the story recently. Marvel has been lying about the budgets of their films by not reporting the cost of the numerous
reshoots that we know every project has undergone. I included Quantumania because it was made as a Phase 4 project, and only moved to Phase 5 because Phase 4 was failing.
The Indiana Jones tv show is
cancelled. It seems to have been a sacrificial cut to save Indiana Jones 5, since that’s Kennedy’s pet project. Indiana Jones 5 isn’t completely safe from being canned, and Iger recently ordered another series of reshoots because he’s pissed at the state of it. Rumors have been coming out of LucasFilm that Iger has threatened to make Kennedy a powerless figurehead if Indiana Jones 5 doesn’t crack $1b.
The Galactic Starcruiser is being discounted again. First, they cut the price to 50% for Disney employees and cut operations to four nights per week. Now, annual pass holders are eligible for
30% discounts on certain dates. I expect this to continue in dribs and drabs until they find themselves cutting their base price in half for everyone.
Disney is being sued by
Karyn McCarthy for jerking her chain with The Acolyte.
Victoria Alonso, the one responsible for MCU Phase 4’s failure and Disney’s record of abusing VFX artists, is also considering suing Disney for her firing, but that’s not likely to go anywhere, since her entire case is that she’s gay and hispanic.
Disney is likely going to be taken to the
Supreme Court by Florida after the stunt they pulled over
Reedy Creek. I hope other states are watching and know not to let Disney get their claws in. I still say Florida should have liquidated the whole thing and been done with it. The cost of the investigation into Disney’s fuckery is $1300 per hour just in lawyer’s fees. That will go up sharply as DeSantis continues building his bench, and again when it comes time to drag Disney to court.
