Good luck waiting until a company who’ve found their generic niche moves away from said niche. It’s like Bioware, whose games are all on a checklist.

Yeah, I heard a lot of complaints from my brother about the Viking one. Nothing about pay-to-win stuff but an awful lot about how equipment and such was spread around in such a shit way that he was finding things that were inferior to what he already had that weren’t available to him until well after he got the superior stuff. He claims that he wasn’t super grinding, which was my first thought.

I don’t mean literally pay to win, I mean that the gear in it BEHAVES like it’s a p2w game. Like what Shadows of War is now.
 
In general equipment done in this way devalues it extremely.

Been wanting to play Sims 3 again, but I also don’t want to go through the effort of fixing the entire game again.

There are ways to play Battlefield 1942 + its expansions and Battlefield 2142 on modern computers without having gotten it on Origin before it was delisted or even having the original game disc installed.

I’ve been meaning to play fo4 survival again. I probably need to tweak my modlist to only include visual stuff though. And performance mods, since the game runs like dogshit on my rig

I keep trying to get back into that game but I always ended up distracted by something else. Then I’ll come back two months later, remember nothing of what I was doing and have to start over.

Yeah that’s basically my experience with the game. Bought it in 2015, played it for 150 hours over the course of a few weeks, got bored.  
Ever since then I kept trying to get back into it, but never quite felt it and always ended up restarting after getting bored of the game and forgetting about it, like you described.  
Meanwhile, chad fallout new vegas where I’ll spend a month or three every other year, playing it 2-3 hours a day until my run is over.

i would play fallabout 3 or NV but the gunplay its just pain, i know there are mods to fix it but thats like a bandaid to a deep cut

Yeah, in those games VATS is supposed to bridge the gap. Plus they’re primarily RPGs, and gunplay always comes second.  
Tho I get why some people wouldn’t like that

i mean i admit the writing and rpgs aspects are really good, but i hate vats, i have a dislike for anything thats too rng reliant (fuck you xcom, as much as i love that game), id rather rely on me own average skill

Yeah I’m the opposite. I can’t stand it when an “rpg” makes me use my own skills instead of my character’s. If I wanna play an fps, I’ll play some csgo

What are some fps games from before 2006-ish with excellent gunplay?

Definitely true for the home console versions I have the PS3 version of it, and it is indeed janky more often than not with the gunplay. However, Fallout 3’s PC and Mac versions came out as more glitchy and bug-filled than either console version. New Vegas is the other way around. ||Oh, and I still don’t know for certain if it was indeed id Software that was primarily responsible for FO4 having better gunplay on all versions compared to Fallout 3 and New Vegas (Even when counting New Vegas’s PC version). The sheer amount of content that got cut out from the final build of Fallout 4 and its story DLCs make me wonder WHAT WERE THEY THINKING? Ditto for many of the lore retcons there and the complete absence of Enclave remnant personnel in FO4. ||

honestly i havent played any real rpgs beside tyranny, and even in there you had to think when and how to use abilities correctly

i enjoyed fallabout 4 but mostly because i didnt take it seriusly, i knew what it lacked and didnt expect anything too great so i just enjoyed dicking around the map

Dude. Install NV. Install FO3. Install the Tale of Two Wastelands mod. Start in Fallout 3. Best gaming experience you’ll ever have than what FO4 can provide.

That’s exactly what I did in my previous fnv run.  
However, the one thing I love about fo4 is survival mode. It’s the one redeeming factor for fo4, and it takes it from “steeming pile of shit” to “damn, pretty good”

that reminds me that i had to install a mod that gives me access to a mobile camping bag because i hated going to fuck knows when to save the game before some mission that might take me an hour, but its the only complaint i have about the mode besides sicness appearing of nowhere for seemingly no reason

God, New Vegas was so good. Buggy as a ditch mattress but good. The only thing I don’t enjoy is Dead Money, and I still like the idea of it and the characters. I just hate the execution. Mostly because of the fucking radios. It’s very hard to enjoy the story and setting when I have to spend 80% of it frantically running around & searching for hidden items in a twisty-turny labyrinth of broken buildings, damaging fog and “clever” obstructions that force you to run a big fucking gantlet loop the long way around the level to approach from the other side. The only DLC that I occasionally just say “fuck that” and skip outright.

i feel like battlefield will be mediocre, i dont hate EA but ive seen way too many broken promises to have feith that they will deliver proper experience
