So…ya, for those who are thinking about buying Cyberpunk for PC, here are my impressions in the first 4 hours of playing and what I’ve discovered:
-The game is not properly optimized. I get the same FPS on low and ultra graphics settings. The game is better played on a RTX nvidia card since there are more graphics options for that kind of card specifically. You won’t get a stable 60fps unless you have a pretty beefy GPU, though.
-The start is boring and full of dialogue before you get to free roam, though I will give them props for adding in timed dialogue options. It forces you to pay attention so you won’t say the wrong thing or have something bad happen from now saying anything at all.
-You can take off all your clothes, but even though you appear completely naked in your inventory menu, you’ll always have boxers on when you resume gameplay, which ruins some of the fun for me since I was planning on creating an exhibitionist Wallflower character.
-The environment is very interactable. You can pick up most small objects and interact with most machines, but most buildings do lack interior and you can’t interact with every street vendor you see. You can sell random objects for a quick buck.
-There are children that walk around on the streets, which is a nice touch. Makes the world feel more alive and realistic…probably explains why you can’t be completely naked, though.
-The combat is pretty fun and stimulating. You can strife, you can vault over small objects, you can slide on the ground, fighting hand-on-hand rewards you for well timed blocks and punches, you can stealthily take down enemies or sneak around them entirely, you can hack people and machines from afar to make them do things to either distract or kill enemies, and you can modify, disassemble, and craft weapons.
-You get a nice big skill tree with lots of perks you can unlock to gradually improve your character’s abilities.
-The major glitches I’ve seen so far are pedestrians appearing and disappearing right before my eyes as I walk around the city, some objects are difficult to vault over while indoors, and cars that are parked on a hill will sometimes float depending on where on the hill you park.
-The story so far is kinda meh. I feel like a poor outcast just doing random mercenary jobs for some quick cash.
Overall, I’d say that my experience so far is pretty mixed. It’s not a total disaster, but it could be a hell of a lot better. Feels like too much potential was wasted on ensuring that the game could run on consoles more so than PCs. It sucks that they cut out some of the previously promised content that would’ve made the game a little more fun like being able to run on the surface of any wall or customize cars at autoshops. All I can do is hope that the game gets improved through updates that fix bugs and adds more to the game.
