Mice studies (see an earlier random fact for why mice are used in medical experiments) show that drinking green tea reduces damage caused by reactive oxygen species linked to aging. This led to a craze of everyone drinking green tea.
Unfortunately, scaling up from mouse size to human size a person would need to drink 4 gallons of green tea every day to get the same benefits as the mice, which would contain 2,560 mg of caffeine, 6 times a lethal dose.
Correction: I miscalculated. It’s half the lethal dose, but since the half life of caffeine can be up to 9 hours it would accumulate faster than it is being eliminated so you would still die in a few days. Also you would probably die of dehydration, or if you tried to drink more water to counteract the diuretic effect of the caffeine, from water intoxication.
Don’t try to drink gallons of tea every day, you will likely die.
