Derpibooru Post Traumatic Stress Disorder Relief Thread

Being old doesn’t make you a mature person. Ciaran is just one of the countless examples you can find everywhere.
As for TSP, he’s one of the most pathetic autistic people I’ve ever seen. Pathological liar, obsessed with imaginary enemies, lack of self-awareness and coward as fuck. Not even worth of any mention, since that’s all he wants in his miserable life.

Show TSP some credit, he dropped out of any meaningful staff activity after he was caught promising his iron fist.

As far we know, because he could be controlling everything about DB through menaces and insults spewn out through staff-only private discords.

Remember, TSP is TheSmilingPony, TeaSpoon, TheFrowningPony and perhaps TeaCup along other things. He seems to use a few aliases on Derpibooru, within the Discord server and on Twitter. So, he may still be lurking in the crowd and background.

Well, both of them are obsessed with 4chan’s destruction and both of them think that wanting to murder people they don’t like is a normal thing to do, so yeah, they are similar.
I also remember TSP ranting about how he felt miserable all the time, so there’s that as well.

He just hid like a rat to suddenly come out after a few weeks later in an “I won XD” “N-No I’m not obsessed, y-you are” fashion.
Pathetic.

It would not surprise anyone if he was a few BPs that try to fling shit around. He probably unironically believe idiots like Vaush.

I never understood the fascination with “every site must be like 4chan”.
If you want your free-speech panacea, it already exists. Why do you care that others sites aren’t like it? At that point, it isn’t free speech you want, it’s being heard, getting clout, influencing others, being a nuisance…

dude what the fuck are you even talking about? “The early internet” was characterized by its vast sprawl of newsgroups, forums, IRC chats, and basic “blogs” with very insular communities and ever-present moderators and admins.
What we have now is people concentrating on a few select platforms due to those platforms already being popular (and repeat), with the community sizes being so large that there’s extremely little moderation or “gatekeeping” at all, practically none compared to “the early internet”.
If you don’t like that some subreddit has mods that don’t tilt your way… make your own subreddit. Hell, make your own site, there are shitloads of open source projects that mimic the functionality of every major site, free market and all that. Or just stick to the existing “free speech” platforms.
Nobody owes you that an existing site and community submit to how you want them to be run.

It mostly becomes an issue if an existing place garners a following under certain rules and then makes a sudden change into another direction. You can’t expect people that might have invested years in a community to not be upset at such changes.

It shows a great amount of passion if people get upset over such changes and anyone who is ready to just leave on the drop of a hat wasn’t invested at all. And the months of discussions on derpibooru showed that immensely.

In the end, sure a privately run place can do what they want, but then they also have to face consequences of their own. Tumblr is probably the best example, it was glorious for following artists until they pulled the plug on NSFW, which sure they have every right to do so, but the mass exodus was just the result.

If DB went all in on becoming a safe space there would have been a massive shift and this place would have probably seen a much higher population. DB barely missed a huge disaster all because they thought its time to shift gears after almost a decade. In the end it was still pretty bad endresult with many leaving DB on their own accords on both sides of the isle.

To that end, it would never come to my mind to go to manebooru and try to change how they run their side. It has its audience and regardless of what i think of that audience, i wouldn’t bother imposing my views on them. And just how i liked DB for how it was run, i wish it would have just continued to run like it did (even if it wasn’t perfect but it was still good).

@Seiken
Honestly, I think Derpi where it is, has a awkward but fairly large grouping of people who aren’t comfortable with certain taboos but don’t want a full SJW takeover or abandon certain principles from the old internet. Not sure how sustainable that is with continuing polarization.

@Anonymous #DFD8
Things are too consolidated, honestly. Yes, idiotic forum politics and abusive mods existed but there was always somewhere else to go. Now, with Reddit, Twitter, Discord, Facebook, whatever, so much of what made the internet truly fun is gone and it’s just a bunch of people on stupid hype trains, political or otherwise.

Freedom of speech but not necessarily freedom after speech.

@Seiken
The additional complication is that Tumblr & Derpi both became de facto primary sources and the changing policies leads to links being broken. Especially if Derpi had collapsed, it would have ended up like Tumblr after the porn ban: lots of unrecoverable data deleted. Thankfully, there were all kinds of pony mirroring projects to pick up right where Derpi left off (and even restore deleted images).

IMO, the best way for a forum to maintain freedom of ideas is to restrict freedom of speech with a strictly-enforced politeness code. Boot off each and every user who thinks the primary value of free speech is to shout the g*mer-word to preserve the freedom of discussion. Additionally, kick off the witch-hunters and doxxers for the same reason.

There are still plenty of places left to go. They just won’t have anyone to respond to you one way or the other. Instead of forum politics, we now have reportmaxxing.
