Yaks aren’t the “native american” equivalent though, they’re the “violent mong immigrants that you somehow still have to accept as-is instead of pointing out they’re being colossal cockwads” equivalent.
But yes, fuck yaks, they have no fucking characterization beyond shoehorned acceptance, bisons good.
There’s also a lot more possibilities for bison, because native americans are much closer to where the writers are, as opposed to Mongolia that is on the other side of the planet; and the spot of eskimos is taken up by crystal ponies.

Because “muh representation! Everything is political!”. I swear fantasy is dead, you can’t just take inspiration from real world cultures anymore and use elements to create your own fictional culture in a universe of your own imagination. No, as soon as you touch an element of real life culture, you’re making a political statement.
And thus the Guybrush Threepwood effect comes into play. I don’t know what @Barhandar was expecting, since in the politically correct world the USA is the only safe thing you can talk about and still have any kind of dramatic stakes. Because otherwise you’ll be accused of making bigoted, evil white supremacist propaganda to demonise other cultures, so the writers just say “fuck it, make em’ all white so we can still make relatable characters”.
Except ponies being a stand in for white people doesn’t make too much sense either, considering how different settlements of ponies like Somnaumbula adopted cultures vastly different from a Grecco-European inspiration.

I groan every time I see a character with a talks-in-rhymes shtick. It’s not very original and it only serves to make the dialogue unnecessarily contrived where it doesn’t have to be.
Other then that, I thought Zecora was alright. I wish she got more screentime and characterisation, but not enough to deal with her speech patterns.
