Apparently, Chris’ lawyer has been behind of the court continuances as a strategy to delay a possible veredict that could send Chris to prison: the more time Chris spends on jail, the safer he is from a potential attack by prison inmates, and the more time he gets to deduct from a potential prison sentence.  
Staying in jail instead of going to prison can help him to avoid losing his disability paycheck as well.

Apparently, Chris’ lawyer has been delaying a veredict so Chris could stay in jail, where he’s way safer than on prison and so Chris could keep accumulating jailtime that could be deducted from whatever sentence the jury finally throws at him.  
Basically the idea is do everything possible to keep Chris from going to prison.

That’s a hell of a delay. Isn’t there a limit?

Yes, but according to the Farms, another of the reasons for this delay is that Chris is legally considered to be a mental cripple unable to live on his own, and since he can’t ever return to his old home, he cannot be released without the state arranging a safety net for him, and that takes time.  
Basically, the only reason why Chris evaded prison after he tried to run over a guy with his car (The Game Place incident) and his following screw ups with the law is because the jury declared him to be a man with the mind of a child and that is a card that his lawyer is definitely playing here for all what is worth.

I agree that Chris really shouldn’t be allowed to drive, especially since he has a historial of deliberately trying to hit people he dislikes and even has bragged about it.  
At a point he even tried to crush a mall guard between his car and the mall walls, and later ranted about how the guard just dodged him.

This guy seriously needs to be euthanized. Letting him continue living is inhumane at this point since he’ll never function in society on his own. If he goes to prison, it’ll only be a matter of time before he gets brutally murdered in his sleep.

The mall guards incident? Chris just ran away and the guards just were satisfied with him leaving forever after being banned from that place.  
This was during the days where Chris loitered at that mall all day long holding his infamous “I want a girlfriend” attraction sign and creeping out the female patrons by trying to catch them using a paper heart tied up to a long piece of red string, as Chris was trying to imitate that anime cliche about how lovers are connected by the red string of fate and what have you.  
Eventually the female patrons AND the store workers couldn’t withstand his creepy presence there anymore and requested the mall guards to ask him to leave, but Chris reacted very agressively to being asked to leave and the guards had to take him outside, where he was told he couldn’t return there anymore.

He has done way worse things, but since he’s autist, he can never understand that what he does is just wrong and neither can understand why other people react to him the way they do instead of just giving him what he wants.

I don’t give a fuck if he understands why he’s getting his ass beat. I just want him to get his ass beat. He doesn’t need understand the why of it. It’s enough for him to simply understand that “doing this = getting my ass beat”.

Well, part of the reasons why he is like this is because he has never been hit on his whole life.  
I suppose the day he finally gets his long delayed belting he will dial his annoyance way back.

According to the CWCki, Chris’ parents never disciplined him and basically always let him do as he pleased, which is one of the main reasons why Chris has zero respect for any authority figure and zero understanding of the concept about “don’t do this”. (The other reasons are linked to his autism of course.)
 
However, the trolls have reported that whenever he was acting out and giving atitude to others (Mostly at The Game Place) an angry look and a warning used to be enough to terrify him and make him apologize before the other guys punched him, at least until he was at a safe distance, which is where Chris immediately became smug and mumbled insults under his breath.
