The issue is that it’s always treated as a replacement for magic, and then you end up with a generic modern world setting. Supplementing, blending, or outright recreating are far more interesting, because it takes more thought than “ME PUT IMPORTANT INVENTION IN FANTASY LAND”

The concept CAN be interesting, but usually it ends up being “uhhhh, why is this a cartoon with ’toon characters and not a movie?”. Especially due to massive amount of skill it takes to pull off figuring out how those things interact or would develop; for starters, magic invalidates 99% of resemblance to IRL technological progress - the inventions might serve same purpose in the end, but they would come to be very differently and work by different principles, like telegraph by bottled dragonfire instead of electricity..

Gags are one thing, making it prolific is another. I much prefer fantasy worlds to stay low tech, but if they’re going to raise the tech level I wish they wouldn’t always do it in the laziest way possible. Is that too much to ask from a TV cartoon? Probably, but then they shouldn’t make the attempt to begin with.
 
Heck, you could argue FiM had advanced tech that both fit in universe and appeared low tech. Dragonfire letter exchanging is effectively IM, for example.

FiM literally has a power dam with Tesla coils, full-on machinery like Super Speedy Cider Squeezy, and the like. The difference is that it’s in background, it’s not pushed in your face constantly unlike “LOOK LOOK HOW TOTALLY RELATABLE in actuality, utterly boring, people don’t go into theaters to watch real life, they have that OUTSIDE theaters BY FEATURING THINGS YOU CONSTANTLY INTERACT WITH IT IS” G5.

Arcanum did it best, that I’ve seen. Silverfall… was interesting. Not great but interesting enough that I re-bought it on GOG so that I could finish it some time (and play the DLC I never knew it had).

Derpibooru mods are probably pretty racist. I think they deleted my post and ignored my reports just because I’m Asian.

Everybody’s a Nazi to them. The secret is: “nazi” is their secret code word for “anybody anywhere who disagrees with us about anything.” It has no more meaning than accusations of witchcraft. It conveys no more information than the noise of barking dogs.

I don’t think this person actually wanted an answer why and just wanted to hear “Because they’re bigots!” a pat on the head and a hand-job for being a good one.
 
Social Justice ideologues wanted to co-op the fandom with and use ponies as mouth-pieces for their rhetoric while being blatant hypocrites. BLM for the longest time was known as a massive scam since Ferguson. Even just recently every leader left after buying 4 mansions in the whitest communities. Anti-racism is just the Athiesm+ of these people.
 
Calling those that dislike obvious propaganda “4channers” and Snowflakes on a site that deliberately kicks users for downvoting or even questioning what they see is sacred is just icing on the cake.
