Finally finishing a book by talk show host Michael Savage that’s been on my shelf for years not being read. It’s full of lies.

There’s something that really sticks in my craw and that’s when people attack a person, place, or thing that they hate NOT by listing the very real bad things that that person, place, or thing did, but by making up bullshit lies, like all the lies people told about Donald Trump that I wrote an entire chapter about in my first book. There are very real things Trump did that were bad, you can hate him for that, but if you make up shit that he didn’t do and pretend like it’s reality then that just makes you an asshole and a liar.

Savage does the same about the people, places, and things he doesn’t like in his book. The lies about child labor (which was ended by adult labor unionists who could vote not wanting their jobs stolen by children who didn’t pay union dues and couldn’t vote, not the magical invisible hand of the industrial revolution free market increasing wages of adults so that children didn’t need to work), about famine in the Soviet Union continuing until 1991 and then magically disappearing when Russia became capitalist(when famine had existed in Russia usually every 30 years for as long as Russia has existed, some 400 years prior to the formation of the Soviet Union, and the very last famine actually happened under Stalin in the 1940s), and about young people not having jobs because they are all lazy and all have worthless degrees (including in growth industries like education and healthcare, which he admits later on will see dramatic growth in the near future) and then a chapter later saying that all the people with “good” degrees who didn’t exist in the previous chapter can’t get jobs because they are replaced with visa workers who are paid a fraction of the wage as an American, I’ll deal with those lies in my book of the real history of the 20th century. Right now I want to talk about the Civil War and his conspiracy theory about how it started.

Yes, the Civil War was about slavery. The southern states were the ones who seceded. They wrote articles of secession that mention the primary reason for secession as being the preservation of slavery. The southern army launched the first unprovoked attack against the north at Fort Sumter.

You can say the Civil War was a tragedy, a lost cause, that black people aren’t human, that slavery is good and moral, that Abe Lincoln is the devil and a tyrant and the worst president ever, that LOLbertarianism is somehow perfectly compatible with the existence of slavery, and that the south should have won, that’s all well and good, that’s your opinion.

What you don’t get to do is make shit up about “state’s rights” (when the states themselves admit the only right they were trying to preserve is the right to keep slaves), or say that the war was started by northern robber barons who wanted to dislodge southern plantation owners from the federal government. That’s no longer an opinion, that’s fake facts that didn’t happen.

James Buchanan, the President before Lincoln, was not a southern plantation owner, he was born in Pennsylvania, a free state. Half of his cabinet were also from free states, and several who were from slave states were from northern slave states (Kentucky and Maryland). His only Supreme Court appointee was from Maine. 6 out of 13 Supreme Court justices who were appointed between 1830 and 1860 were from southern states.

Southern Democrats lost power in Congress in 1855 when the Opposition Party (that was their real name) was created of people who opposed the official Democrat platform of spreading slavery beyond the states where it already existed but weren’t for abolishing slavery entirely. Prior to that southern pro-slavery parties only had a slim majority on and off starting in 1820s (they went back and forth with the Whigs and Anti-Jacksonians as to who was in control).

In fact, anti-slavery forces did their best to eliminate the peculiar institution from the end of the Revolution until the 1830s when better-designed cotton gins made cotton a profitable crop, which increased southern power.

It’s only in that 25 year window, really, that pro-slavery southern politicians had any real power in government and when the southern states dominated the US economy. I guess you can “technically” say that that was “prior to the Civil War”, but that’s stretching what those words mean.

It’s called projection. Most of the lies are made up with actions that the speaker has done or wants to do.

Fun fact: the first famine of Soviet Union happened equally because of idiot government taking away all seeds, even planting stock; idiot farmers believing rumors that all animals, even draft, will be taken away and butchering them; and bad weather.

I mean, technically they have power right now. Just disguise slavery as welfare gap, being able to spend less overall on people who are used to living in slums (whether blacks, migrants, or any other ghetto-dwellers) and pretend-promotion of the slaves while spitting in their face with false promises, and bam! Democratic (soon to be Sole) Party of United States!

Weirdo
Let’s not forget how the Soviets rejected Darwinian evolution as a product of capitalist thought, and opted for a strange, basically magical, version of Lamarckian evolution relying on solidarity between plants.

Lysenkoism kills.

Which basically destroyed USSR’s genetics research. Imagine what could have been if it wasn’t.

I know lysenko’s shit isn’t like it, but I can still make hilarious parallel with Jewish Physics and White Math.

I’m kinda glad they did, to be honest – if, for example, their attempts at creating a superhuman slave race had been based in real genetics rather than trying to inseminate women with chimpanzee sperm, the world might be even worse off than it is now…

Weren’t their attempts to do that caused by lysenko et al, though?

Also if they weren’t retarded this way, maybe Khruschev’s not-quite-a-famine by replacing actual crops with CORN CORN EVERYWHERE EVEN IN PLACES WHERE IT WILL DIE would actually work out (and result in Russia being corn oil user #1, not USA).

I mean, they probably would’ve wanted a strong slave race either way – socialism runs on slavery, you know – but Lysenko & co basically guaranteed they didn’t get one.

Here’s some more bullshit from the book.

Page 109 he quotes the current Pope Francis talking about the 80 people who have more money than the other 7 billion people on the planet combined and says on page 110 “It signals yet another move by this Pope to reduce the influence of wealth and money on the Church.”

How is that a bad thing? Didn’t an entire religion get started because the Catholic church was letting wealthy people buy their salvation?

It gets better (or worse). On pages 111-112 he quotes Pope Leo XIII who was talking about socialist governments stealing the money workers earn through labor, but on page 96 he made it clear that the ultra rich bankers aren’t making money off labor, they’re making money off manipulating money to create more money out of thin air at the expense of the middle class.

On page 112 he says that Pope Francis’s words “could have been written by Lenin” and then two paragraphs later on page 113 says “Our president (Obama) spent nearly a trillion dollars of taxpayer money on a stimulus plan for the rich.”

MAKE UP YOUR FUCKING MIND! Why is it okay for Michael Savage to criticize the banksters using government loopholes that they themselves created through lobbying and underwriting political campaigns to make trillions of dollars at the expense of everyone else but it’s evil communism for Pope Francis to say exactly the same thing one page earlier?

Why is getting monied interests out of the Catholic church evil communism but getting those same interests out of the US government is good? Page 92 “It’s clear to me that the financial world is not under Washington’s thumb. It’s washington that is under the financial world’s thumb.”

He’s somehow able to hold two totally contradictory positions in his head simultaneously and not realize that they contradict each other ON OPPOSITE FUCKING PAGES.

Did he not have an editor for this book? Because an editor, even just a casual beta reader, would see that there are blatant contradictions on opposite pages.

I can’t understand it.

Narcissism, which is the realistic version of solipsism. The reality of a narcissist is whatever he wishes it to be at any given moment (and when it conflicts by force because surprise, IRL doesn’t follow solipsism and different people are different people, it results in emotional outburst and denial).

Farmers - who in the middle ages were mandated by the Church to work no more than 180 or so days a year, and pretty much couldn’t work in the dead of winter anyway - gave up eating bread made of grain to eating bread made of plaster, and gave up drinking milk straight from the cow or goat or whatever animal they had on hand to drinking spoiled milk containing lethal quantities of borax and bacteria because it allowed hucksters to save money.

¡The Industrial Revolution introduced the invisible hand of free market crapitalism, freeing children from having to work 24/7 on farms and turned the world into literal paradise!

The 40-hour a week movement was nothing new, it was an attempt to return working conditions to pre-industrial standards.

As far as I know they haven’t been good in decades because of bullshit “free” trade deals that don’t work because the US is literally the only country playing by the rules, everyone else has instituted degrees of protectionism, and other laws that allow companies to outsource jobs and hire visa workers. Union leadership was also corrupted by money.

We no longer have a worker’s market like in the 50s, 60s, 70s, and even into the early 80s, now we have an employer market, and if you don’t like the working standards you can “git another McJob” that’s just as bad or go die in the gutter.

Unions were originally good because they were run by actual workers. But they let conflict of interesters and other greedy fucks take lead - so now unions are basically modern take on guilds, with the same “join us or we destroy you” behavior (though less murder for telling people the super secret things like how to build an arch and more ruining people’s life).

40-hour work week wasn’t for farmers (their work week has been and will be until complete automation 112+ hours, but only for part of the year), it was for everyone else, i.e. industrial workers, crafters, etc.
