It’s like all the historical maps I make, reading words isn’t enough, I need to look at things to understand them better, and most books are just words, so I make my own pictures.

Three-fifths of the TOTAL population of slaves were counted toward representation in Congress. Each slave was still a whole person, it’s just that only a limited subset of whole persons was counted toward representation.
It says nothing about the humanity or intrinsic value of slaves, it says nothing about “Huu, huu, let’s divide individual people into fractions!” Get FFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUKED! It doesn’t fucking say that.
