Ah well. They were just screenshots from the Windows 3.1 version. Which is still quite playable, but getting it to work on a 64 bit operating system is non-trivial.

There really ought to be a modded version of Doom 3 that comes with ROE as well as includes at least some elements of BFG edition, especially the checkpoint saves along with the Lost mission level pack.
The best of both versions of Doom 3 basically.

Here’s a decent list of changes. Doom 3 was designed around its flashlight mechanic. Changing it up so that you can just have a flashlight up and shoot at things as they appear messes up the pacing of encounters and makes it so a lot of enemies just die before they can even do anything. It kills the tension. Add to that ammo and health being more plentiful, as well as a more forgiving armor system, and a lot of people consider BFG Edition to be Doom 3 babby mode.

There’s also the fact that Doom 3 is easily moddable and BFG isn’t.

So mostly the mods thing, I’m guessing, since the health & armor can be fixed by just playing on a harder skill level. Which is ironic since the only mod I know of for Doom 3 was the taped-on flashlight mod. Because intentional or not, that flashlight mechanic was fucking dumb.

Seriously? In THUH FURTUR the Space Marines on Mars don’t have things we have now?

I wonder if the PS4, like the Xbox One (which I own the One S of already), requires even physical games to be installed in order to be played. Or does this only apply to digital games?

Why is the TW Rome 2 encyclopedia nearly impossible to navigate? The only reason I managed to finally find the section on buildings was because I happened to stumble across a link to the page in the forums. It doesn’t seem to be linked anywhere on the encyclopedia homepage or any page it actually does link to.
