Video game thread

I’ve gotten into beatmania iidx, though stuck playing with thinkpad x1 keyboard at the moment, hopefully my iidx pad gets here soon.

When you play video games that don’t have characters, the intellectual property can’t be hijacked and made politically correct.

Looking through the list of upcoming Steam games, there seems to be quite a few obvious ripoff titles. Outworlds = Starbound/Terraria, The Planet Crafter = Factorio/Subnautica, and Terror of Hemasaurus = Rampage. And, of course, another flux of simulators. Coal miner simulator, Donisaur Fossil Simulator, Train Simulator, Car Manufacture Simulator, Neighborhood Building Simulator…if there’s one thing I’ve noticed, it’s that this generation is obsessed with simulators for some reason.

Outworlds: Wouldn’t really call it a ripoff at first glance, but it certainly looks like a lo-fi/pixel sci-fi sandbox that missed the Steam sandbox boom.
 
The Planet Crafter: Look more like it takes the best aspects of Subnautica and No Man’s Sky base building but adds a terraforming aspect. Too early to tell, though.
 
Terror of Hemasaurus: Yeah, that one’s relatively blatant.
 
Simulator and “Simulator” flood: No comment other than Goat Simulator was a mistake.

If you want to correct, it’s “dinosaur” not “donisaur”.
