It’s mostly that they became less diluted due to toxic ones driving away non-toxic ones that tried to actually mingle, and growing more extreme over time is a given.
That makes a ton of sense, actually. Still means it’s a root or near-root problem, but at least now there’s a very believable explanation. Not only that, but it’s extremely natural.
They still don’t have a batch image deletion tool in the UI, as far as I know, it’s either “hide DNPed images one by one” or “ask someone with access to database console to run a script”. It’s only functional on user-facing side, i.e. for show.
Also remember that TSP is not the original site staff, that would be Carcer and Clover the Clever (who’s an idiot and a cuck anyway). The situation is kinda similar to Minecraft Forge’s, in that people who’ve actually founded it (spacetoad and Eloraam) left, resulting in a grandiose narcissist taking the sole control.
I think I do remember there being a few comments that Meow made of the site’s core functionalities, but I shrugged it off because after a while I was like, “What reason do I have to know this if I’m not apart of the staff or going to make my own image board?” So, I just tuned stuff like that out.
I do remember both Carcer and Clover very faintly. It was probably a massive mistake for them to leave it with Teaspoon, but I can’t fault them for wanting to go their own ways. Nobody should ever be angry at someone for trying to attain happiness or a better frame of mind. Their judgement was, perhaps, just a bit shortsighted.
The ones that are simultaneously “1200/750 USD” and “we barely have money to run the site”?
Oh yeah! For some time, Meow gave me information akin to ‘we earn quite a bit of money to run the site, and have more than enough’, and it struck me as odd since they’re saying that the site costs $25 a day to run, which made no sense to me. Granted, Derpi is a sizable site data-wise, but I currently have my own domain I’m working on (lazily), and it’s only going to cost $200 or so a year for that itself. A few other things bring it up to about $400 a year, maybe. I know they had the servers updated with better hardware, but I can’t imagine those, at 2 separate server banks, in 2 separate countries in the EU where energy is supposedly cheaper than the US, cost $25 a day to run.
And supposedly all their extra cash flow went to charity, or that was the plan as their Patreon stated, and then some dude contacted the charity that they were supposedly sending all extra funds to and they emailed back that they weren’t even aware of anyone sending such donations. (Odd considering it would need to be something on the books. You can’t just make multiple $100+ donations a year and it go completely unnoticed.)
He’s not authoritarian. He’s spineless. He did at least three ultimatums (“stop excusing shit with autism”, “stop excusing TUA”, and “IRON FIST”) that resulted in absolutely nothing.
See, issuing ultimatums like that as one who runs a site, to me, is very authoritarian. Whether they’re successful and achieve something is irrelevant when it comes to the core functionality. You’re telling people that you must do this or suffer consequences, without considering any other options, and barely ever budging. It wasn’t until a major shake-up that things just fell apart because all the engines caught fire at once.
I remember specifically, when I was really doing well with my merch selling for artists and creators, I tried gathering a bit of consumer data from those that may be interested, and I chose Derpi because it was the largest purely MLP site out there. I was banned because they thought I was attempting to harvest emails and all this other stuff, which wasn’t the case because I remember specifically turning off the saving of each response beyond the information within the response. It just required a gmail login to make sure there’s no multiple responses from one person, so they acted. Well, nearly every artist I was partnered with at the time took major offense to that, since everything I do for that storefront is for them really, and some of them were going to straight up just pull their art from the site and Teaspoon backpedaled harder than a cyclist about to go down hamburger hill.
Only if you mean “bigoted asshole” sense as opposed to “promoting criminals and gold-diggers while ignoring the impoverished and the dying” sense. Additionally it’s perfectly possible to become a SJW for clout, showcase: literallywhoot (…though in his case it’s also lusting after pseudovagina)
Yeah, bigoted asshole is pretty spot on, but I’d say there were a few instances where he gave me this feeling that he didn’t care if rules or laws were broken if it was his enemies getting some sort of punishment. I never saw him as a fair person, and maybe I’m bias.
French, blind to derpi staff shit because “hurr durr friends”, likes andoilette, hates stuffed croissaints.
>Weird-ass french dude
I never thought I’d say this, but he sounds SANE compared to other staff members.
also known as “why severely mentally unstable people should never be in charge of anything”.
I guess he thought that it was cool and wanted to show me it, which I can understand, but if I were in his position I wouldn’t even be monitoring the site in official capacity in the presence of another individual who is not staff. To me, this hurts privacy and makes things slightly less secure. If I were more inclined and not completely computer science illiterate, what he showed me on multiple occasions would’ve likely been enough to attempt to find vulnerabilities and flaws in the site to get greater access and cause problems.
I know if anyone really wanted to, and I know this because he seemed ecstatic to tell me on multiple occasions, there’s a button in the site’s backend which will just delete the entire site. Maybe it’s all bullshit, but why tell me on multiple occasions and seem happy about it? Do you think you’re giving me the nuclear launch codes or something?

You are naïve and you flatter me greatly. I’m very thankful that you think I’m knowledgeable, but unfortunately I cannot truthfully say the same from my perspective. There are many things I don’t think about, don’t know, flat out get wrong because I think I know what I’m talking about, and so on. I have a hunger for knowledge, and a desire to be correct on empirical grounds rather than to care extensively about one’s emotions on the matter. (Rather odd considering my desire to go into the psychiatric field of medicine and science, which focuses, in many areas and situations, on emotions and how they affect your decisions and interactions.)
I have to chalk it up to, we had a fight some time before the instances where he rejected my sensitive advances. And, that fight also included with it extreme emotional back and forth where we were both distraught and said things that likely, on both sides, are completely ridiculous to my level-headed self. I’m not innocent in this tale. I was a rather terrible partner. I cannot speak against or for Meow, on this particular subject, but I will say that at one point I believe our affections were absolutely genuine.
As for Fleetfoot, I’m not 100% certain if this is the same person as I was told about the last time I spoke with Meow. All I know is that Meow and another individual (keep in mind he described the two of them as female, and both had, to my knowledge, female ‘tulpas’, Meow’s of course being their OC), were apparently getting married soon, in Germany, which MAY make Meow a German citizen now. I’m not sure.
While not unfounded or completely surprising, it’d be a twist if Teaspoon was, in reality, this person all along and now the two are dating. Both live in Germany, so it has a slight hair of possibility, but given how much Teaspoon talked about ‘his wife’ and such… Don’t know.
