Yes, but Derpi staff has showed all the time they don’t really want to.  
It seems they don’t even notice they’re doing a lot of wrong things in the first place. I don’t know if that’s because of their big ego or they have a mental issue that they can’t realize what really made their users upset about them.

I think when people admit to wanting to cause as much evil as possible it means they’ve gone passed the point of no return.
 
Most evil people, as Socrates said, do not desire to do evil, they think that they are doing good and just get it catastrophically wrong. But some people actually set out to be evil, and I would say that that these people who desire to be evil for evil’s sake are beyond fixing. Because they don’t desire good and are just wrong, so you can’t convince them that they are wrong, they know what they are doing is evil and desire evil. And they’re much better at manipulating people than you are, so trying to convince them of anything is an exercise in futility.
 
I also disagree with the second point. After the Second World War the US army had run a study and found that only five percent of soldiers actually shot at the enemy, and only two percent shot to kill. Through various sophisticated forms of psychological reprogramming over the subsequent half century they were able to reverse the situation, whereby they could make 95 percent of all soldiers shoot to kill. They could never get to 100 percent and concluded that some people would never take another life even to save their own.
 
Now you could say, hypothetically, that some unknown future method of brainwashing or whatever could somehow turn these two groups could be changed, to make the saints sinners and the sinners saints, but I’d file that under promissory materialism. I also have one other reason for thinking it is impossible that I won’t get into now, but I will mention it in the book that I’m writing. I don’t think the world is quite ready for that part just yet.

That depends on what your idea of justice is, it is true they could never truly make up for their crimes, but they could still turn to better things and be useful to society. There is not solution to murder, you can not replace the missing person and killing the murderer or locking them away forever only doubles the deficit. Taking a life is a permanent alteration to the world and the responsibility for the outcomes of that choice are your responsibility for ever, but there is no undoing it or making up for it.
 
Call me world weary and cynical but no one is above murder, all it takes is the right pressures to make someone commit an un-lawful killing and given the right circumstance anyone can rise to be genocidal dictator. So equally there is no one that can not change for the better and besides all the things we consider evil are necessary and have their uses, most are even a great boon when harnessed properly.
 
I see no profit in declaring people permanently tainted by evil and discarding them, however it does hinge on people wanting to change and weighing their potential benefit in the possible future against the harm they are causing right now.
 
To get back on topic the derpi mods have a lot of information and experience that could be useful to the running of a site, but right now they have a head full of ego and dogma and need to be removed, however I wouldn’t banish them from the fandom forever, just remove them from authority until they can show to be trustworthy again.
 
They need to re-learn the point of the ‘love and tolerate’ meme and why it could only come from 4chan. The point is not unified acceptance of an outlook but shareing the things you enjoy and ignoreing the things you hate so you can share a space with people harmoniously without it being a never ending shitstorm.

The forums there had a long habit of being more accepting of drama than they should have been. I once saw a user, quite literally, without being anonymous, say that whenever she gets irritated at someone else on site, she threatens to strangle them, and was encouraging others to do the same. She did not even get a slap on the wrist. Not even. They deleted her post, 15 days after the incident, but that was all. That was nothing. Nothing. For making and encouraging on-site death threats towards anyone you don’t like.

The derpi forums have a distinctly unwelcoming feel to them. It’s not so much the users (though some threads…) as it is a feeling of “go away” that I get whenever I look at them.

I only really knew of Derpy Whooves, Joey, TSP, Mildgyth (or however you spell it), Nittany, Lightning and… Dilbert guy. I don’t know his name but I recognize him on sight. And Archonix, of course, but he retired a while ago. The others never really said much or visibly intervened in the image comments (that I saw, at least) so I was barely even aware of their existence until recently.
