To answer your question for real, the state is kind of supposed to assume he’s innocent up until he gets formally convicted or otherwise pleas guilty. If he gets convicted they’ll stop paying, but otherwise he remains eligible.
I’m not sure if they would redirect the checks to the jail, though, or if they’ll just go directly to 14 BC (and therefore to Barb).

So, Please, all of you, go online and Donate to my Inmate Account right away. Five or Ten dollars per person, at least, towards an accumulated total of $100 would be Very Much Appreciated.
Also, donations to my inmate account can be made through the Central Virginia Regional Jail’s website, and ONLY U.S. Postal Money Orders, Cashiers Checks, or Certified Checks made (out) and addressed to Christine is acceptable through Postal Mail.

Probably the latter. Hard to imagine the state would continue to pay him while they’re in the process of housing & feeding him and determining whether to send him to prison. Then again, if the state worked halfway reasonably he would have been in a cell of one sort or another years ago.

According to the letters, Chris was not put with the other inmates and he only interacts with the guards and staffers. He still complains about his “neighbors” and thinks of his jail time as if he were staying in a hotel, because he still hasn’t grasped the situation he is in.

Well, Chris’ fate will be decided next Thursday. There’s nothing else to add except that according to his letters, he might be getting horribly fat because he has been doing nothing but eat nonstop from both his regular prison meals and from the junk food he buys at the prison’s commissary.
