Unforeseen downtime. It happens. Sorry for the late reply, I was, you know, sleeping.

I was getting 504 errors after bouts of idle loading.

I can confirm, it happened to me to. I tried to refresh the front page about 40 minutes ago, my browser just kept loading until the connection timed out.
 
My internet connection seemed to be okay, and I checked the other boorus just to see if anything was up, everything else loaded fine. I think the site started loading for me again around 20 minutes ago.

Now the site run like normal, I’m wondering what was the issue, maybe it had to do with a little update of the site.

I had it happen to me a few minutes ago had no idea why it was happening.

So when I reload the page it takes pretty long and pops a 502 or 504 Bad Getaway message, I don’t know what’s going on or if other users noticed those errors recently.

Same, I spent about 5 hours refreshing and wondering how big of an update was going on.

I kept refreshing the page and got nothing but that attractive Lyra thumbnail.
 
It scared me, I thought the site was scrapped.

I see, I can see changes made by derpi to be okay to implement here. Especially if they share the same bug. For a long time since Eclipse, the fetcher on DA has never been the same.

For now, yes. No other booru has decided to add that particular detail, derpi included. Though technically derpi used to have it back when they ran on booru-on-rails, they just removed the feature at some point.
 
But the code is open source and can be accessed by anyone, so if any other site wishes to use it there’s nothing stopping them.

Is it exclusive to this site?

It also counts multiple page refreshes by a single user as distinct views, so it’s not really representative of actual popularity of an image. But there are faves and upvotes for that.

All images have it, it just won’t show if the view count was 0.

I noticed that images that I uploaded yesterday won’t have that counter.  
Does this mean the counter will appear for the new images that are uploaded from now on?

When you open an image, it’s right next to the image res, quality image and size.

Added a new feature, views counter. Does not track views when links are posted elsewhere.

You don’t have to do a thing if you already have a ponybooru account with a microsoft email.
 
The idea behind this extortion blowback is that it’s entirely likely microsoft will stop using UCE protect as a RBL (Root Block List (provider)) and that will result in the emails for microsoft working again.
 
The guy doesn’t deserve the money - and is likely going to be sitting in a swiss prison for a while if he continues the racket.

Due to extortion by a dumbass Swiss man (or duo, depending on who you believe) ANY users using hotmail are unable to receive email from Ponybooru (Or any other Z+ asset for that matter)  
This means you can’t sign up.

Why are we affected? I go though a smaller but not completely insubstantial provider who has now had their ASN (Autonomus System Number) listed as Level 3, which means anyone who uses UCE protect as a blacklist no longer accepts mail from ponybooru’s network.
 
Why don’t we just go to a different provider? 1. No. 2. Digital Ocean, Cockbox / Cock.li , Linode, Ram Node and several hundred other large providers have been blacklisted.
 
That site is doing this as an extortion scheme. Blacklist an ASN - tell that ASN’s customers to complain to their provider (The ISP) that they should pay the ransom. Otherwise their shit won’t work.

Apparently you can also get your own IP blacklisted by emailing UCEProtect because they refuse to publish a useful email.

And by own IP I mean the IP of whoever your email provider is. So basically with the change UCE protect has made, it’s possible to get a provider like gmail - banned from sending email to outlook.
 
 
Extortion will not be tolerated, and neither I nor the host I choose will pay the ransom. Simply don’t use hotmail or outlook , or pressure Microsoft to stop using UCE protect as if it were a legitimate blocklist.

Network issues with upstream transit provider. In addition to one of the services failing due to network issues. Was fixed after 10 minutes or so when I realized what broke.
