Saw a Yahoo article “She lost her job and decided to move to Mexico to open a B&B”. Yeah, because that’s the FIRST thing I think of after losing my job, moving to another country, buying property, and starting a business.
You read on. This is 1999. She actually had a really high paying job at a pharmaceutical company. Her husband was also rich. They sold their house, worth $400,000 in 1999 (easily $2 million today), spent something like $190,000 on the land and $75,000 in construction costs, and are now living it up in Mexico raking in money.
This is something totally unattainable for 99.999% of everyone on the planet, but it’s Yahoo so the comments section is full of retards telling you “Anyone with good economic literacy could do that!” (actual quote) That wasn’t even true in 1999, when the economy was fantastic, it’s certainly not true in 2024.
