Disney Sucks

I hate when Disney censors shit.  
There is one funny instance of censorship not from Disney,but from UK broadcast standards.  
In an episode of Recess,Spinelli’s parents show her friends some baby pictures, including one of her with her “little fanny in the air”.  
That line was cut because “fanny” means vagina over there or something.

Censoring old cartoons can fucking wait. Casting based on ethnicity should not be our focus. I have no idea where I fit on a political spectrum.

Disney screwed up the release of Doug’s First Movie when they put it on DVD.  
There was no widescreen,even though it was a theatrical release,and the vhs says “modified”,so a widescreen version does exist. The end credits cut off halfway through, interrupting the ending song,and the behind the scenes documentary from the end of the tape is gone.  
And it was a club-exclusive and costs way too much now.

How bad is live action Mulan? The original is one of my favorite films so I’ve not daring to taint myself with the images of that new “version”.

I’ve seen enough to know I wouldn’t like it. Donnie Yen’s Twitter had up some scenes,he’s okay,the directing is awkward. The camera would just linger waaay too long on people not saying anything. The movie starts out with young Korra Mulan jumping around with the proportionate strength of a spider. There’s a shapeshifting witch in the movie,and maybe she has the hots for Rey Mulan,so maybe it’s worth watching for that. Oh,yeah,she had a pointless sister at the beginning.  
Poorly paced,awkward,standard Disney remake.

Yeah,that’s still the same. I remember that scene where she takes her father’s armor was rushed and skipped alot of scenes from the Animated one.

I find it interesting that Disney was able to insert a Phoenix of Greek myth into a traditional Chinese folk-tale and not be called out for it. I’d think their careless trampling of Chinese mythology would get more attention than their sloppy treatment of Chinese architecture, but that isn’t how it worked out.

There are two. One is the Vermilion Bird, one of the four constellations. It acts as the guardian of the South. It would never appear to a single person. The other, which is called the “Chinese Phoenix”, is the Fenghuan. It, like the Vermilion Bird, is only associated with fire in an abstract sense. The same way it’s associated with justice. The Fenghuan is the symbol of the empress, and only appears at the end of dynasties to mark the beginning of the new era. Since the emperor was still the emperor at the end, it wouldn’t have appeared in the first place. Since Mulan didn’t become the empress, it wouldn’t show itself to her.
 
Neither Chinese bird is literally firey, and neither has anything to do with regeneration, rebirth or anything like that. Neither would have anything to do with her. There was nothing Chinese about the Phoenix in the movie.

I didn’t see the movie and have no plans to.

I read that Chinese reviews for the Mulan remake were “encouraged” to be positive. Since there really isn’t anything the movie does particularly well or unique,they praised the relationship between Mulan and the witch,saying it was a progressive message.  
Lol the Chinese government hates the gaze.
