Disney says it’s committed to repealing Florida’s education bill. I don’t know if they’re serious, or they’re just going to talk big and throw a few million to opponents of the bill as a sop to their activist employees.

The bill to revoke Reedy Creek passed the Florida Senate. Once it makes it through the House, it’ll just be a matter of waiting for the sunset date to arrive.

Crazy that is going through. I wonder what sort of ramifications that will have? I know Disney had a pretty strong governance of the area but the question is will there be anything that Disney is doing on their land that will be illegal or harder to do without governance powers?

They were fully in charge of zoning. Any new hotels, golf courses, resorts and especially residences they want to build will now be subject to red tape.

I recall it being said, “Disney could put a nuclear plant there if they wanted to.” Don’t no how true that is. I wonder if there is anything that might be illegal or require a lot of red tape and have to be shutdown if it is now subject to normal state laws.

Reedy Creek was repealed in the House. If DeSantis signs the cancellation into law, Disney will lose its special status starting June 1, 2023.
