If you add “s” to “laughter” you go from “laff-ter” to “slaw-ter”. The addition of one letter changes “laff” to “law”.

Percy Shelley’s ‘Ozymandias’ was written for a competition. His friend, Horace Smith, also wrote a poem called Ozymandias.
 

 
Shelley’s poem was judged to be the winner. History has upheld the judges’ decision, Smith’s version has languished in relative obscurity.
