I think it’s worse than that. Money is only a tool. Power is what you do with money. Power is A’s ability to compel B’s obedience against his will. The motivation for this is to rub the other 99% of society’s noses in it and remind us that we’re peasants, occupied by a foreign conqueror. The SJWs at Disney didn’t take over Disney to make money, they took it over to take control of the culture and remind us of our place by cramming Gay Pride Month down all our throats, the same way the SJWs at DC and Marvel make all the superheroes Africans-in-America and/or Mohammedans and/or Chinese and/or homosexual and/or trannies. Woke comics lose money hand over fist. They don’t care. They can’t help themselves. This is about flexing their muscle and rubbing the peasants’ noses in the dirt.
After the French Revolution the Jacobins did all the same things, only more crudely, by burning books and having crude and horrible replacements written by ardent fellow revolutionaries, by digging up France’s national heroes wherever they were buried and dragging the skeletons to the guillotine. The point was humiliation. It’s part of the psychology of control. Look at the USSR and its laughable, horrible, stupid propaganda–which was quite deliberately stupid, and quite deliberately contradicted itself constantly, so that people who lacked Revolutionary Zeal could identify themselves for the convenience of the KGB by joking about it.
We’re not quite at the stage where the SJWs feel quite perfectly confident that they can start dragging people out of their homes to feed Madame Guillotine. Not quite. But it’s fast approaching. We’re at the Weimar stage and the 1970s Cambodia stage is visible from here.
Americans, and I’m not talking about paper Americans or hyphenated Americans, have always been an optimistic, idealistic people. One of the Left’s biggest weapons is propaganda about our ideals. We’re going to get a reminder, very soon, I think, that the historical norm is not a choice between Thomas Jefferson and John Adams. It’s a choice between Pol Pot and Augusto Pinochet, and the people making that choice aren’t to be found in voting booths or city councils.
The norm of history isn’t high-minded talk about human rights and expanding the franchise. Over six thousand years of recorded history, the norm is peasants ruled by brigands. It’s coming. It’s coming soon. You can see it from here.
