It’s a feedback loop:

Republicans seeking out the most unhinged people to stick them on Fox as ‘the average Lefty’.

But unfortunately instead of lefties on Twitter and Twitch just saying ‘This person is clearly cringe, we don’t claim them’ they are compelled to defend them despite how horrendous and annoying their behavior is.

They are coping. They want to believe they are the underdog, while they use every bit of power they have to silence people. Elon Musk used to be a darling loved by the left and if he said “Trump sucks” they would have cheered even if Twitter was a bigger cesspit then it was before he bought it. They are right that the media helped Trump just not in the way they believe because they would not stop bitching about him and making up absurd stories about him. They could not even say there was an assassination attempt. He just “ducked over a loud noise” as if to paint him like a coward which made his “Fight” picture that much more powerful.

Yes, exactly. However, a lot of otherwise intelligent people are buying into the “putting the woke away” narrative (for various reasons, I think; for some it might be fanboyism or sycophancy, for others they’re trying to shoehorn events into a faulty theoretical framework, and for others still it’s because they trust a commentator who buys into one of the other explanations.).

As for companies churning out garbage, things like movies and video games take years to produce so everything coming out now was greenlit at least two years ago. If we’re actually in a cultural watershed moment, it will take at least two years for it to materialize. If it does, then everything coming out now will be rationalized as sunk cost (though there are many people pushing this explanation already).
