That seems almost impossible to practically enforce, short of the standard being “if either party directly and openly acknowledges the quid pro quo, then it’s a crime.” It would be easier to just ban donations and gifts to politicians from outside of family altogether (though even that leaves room for in-law fuckery.)
Although really, this is all just pointless speculation, because congress is never going to vote to cut their own salaries, just like they’ll never vote to abolish fiat currency, end the perpetual wars overseas, legalize machine guns, or stop subsidizing corporate monoliths. The only way any of this shit will change is through the system collapsing under its own unsustainability, or Minecraft.

Actual Left-wing person, I just want to point out that the idea of judging people by their sex, gender identity and race is not a left wing stance, in the words of Dr King “a person should be judged by the content of their character”.
Defining people by their gender and racial characteristics is an ideology pushed by far right groups like fascists nationalists. In-fact the idea of a stratified society by any metric; whether its caste, race, gender, wealth or accomplishments is arguably right wing ideology as the extreme end of left wing thought is enforced equality of outcome for all (which is only possible without horrendous results in a post scarcity society), but I would say that any reasonable person would place the stratification by characteristics beyond the persons control as decidedly right wing with stratification by pure accomplishment being the only sort of stratification a reasonable left wing person would condone.
Therefore anyone that tries to say cis white people bad and trans black people good are not socially left wing and are actually racists and sexists. Your political affiliation is based on your social and fiscal policy, not how much you like gay people, black people or transexuals. It’s not possible to have a left-wing social policy, which by definition is based on equality of treatment, and have favourites or have one group with more or less protections than another.
To cite an example, artificially elevating ethnic groups to a higher societal cast by blocking white people from entering the professional management class and lowering the criteria for entry for minorities is a right wing policy, your maintaining the division in material conditions, just swapping out who the ruling caste is. A left wing policy would be aiming to dismantle the stratification and bring everyone’s material conditions on an even keel, if the results of that policy mean more barriers for another group it would be considered a failure.
If any further proof is needed than look at the results of Social Justice; ‘accidental’ segregation in schools, eroding of laws that prevent discrimination on protected characteristics, children being publicly shamed in schools before their peers based on their protected characteristics, people being fired based on false accusations of the protected class against the lesser classes, purging of education professionals on ideological grounds and abuse of censorship to not only silence descent but also to protect criminals in their own ranks. No self declared left wing movement should be resurrecting Jim Crow and Nazi though policing.

The systemic racism we see being spewed from society is very clearly coming from groups with Partisan Far-Left ideologies and/or alliances, most of them have openly professed socialist/communist/marxist beliefs. At the very least, they’re not hiding their true allegiance very well.
This is because their ethics are consequentialist in nature, rather then procedural. Whereas we in civilised countries with a glorious heritage of success and moral innovation recognise that justice comes from the correct adherence to due process, these groups believe that justice is achieved when a particular outcome is reached. Thus, reaching that outcome by any means necessary is not only morally permissible, but a moral imperative.
If, therefore, one believes that non-whites have been historically oppressed, leading to disadvantages in the modern world-just to pick a completely random example off the top of my head, that I’m sure has no relation to what we’re talking about at all-then using similar racial discrimination against the white majority is an acceptable measure to ‘even the scales’ in one’s eyes. There is no morally quandary to consider, it’s just about “racial justice” after all.
The modern Left is racist, and it can be qualified as that because it is pushing rhetoric and policies that leads to objectively recognisable racial discrimination, not to mention all the race-hate being fostered as a result of this rhetoric. You cannot just say “The Left isn’t racist, because I defined it as not racist, therefore SJWs are Right Wing” and expect anyone to take you seriously.

The point is that “drugs are bad and result in ruining lives”, so a simpleton’s first motion is to ban them, thinking bans accomplish anything but making it worse.
And then organized crime joins up and actively wants to make it worse, because it’s more profitable this way (people in prison, ability to cut costly to produce drugs with junk because it’s not held to standards anyway, etc).
