It’s going to take a decade to build the renewables infrastructure and to horde enough rate earth metals to make the generators, best to do it now while the going is good and no one gives a shit.

Also domestic pollution is a quarter out of a pie that is a third taken up by the real problem, big dirty factories in the second and third world that don’t use scrubbers that no one will ever do anything about because their making money on them churning out plastic shit that breaks the first time you use it.

Yes, sustainable clean energy is important. It’s why the eco terrorists need to stop fighting against nuclear and pushing those ugly turbines that kill eagles or freeze up in the winter like what happened in Texas.

We have made big strides in nuclear. It’s nowhere near as dangerous and filthy as it used to be. All that smoke you see pluming out the top is just steam. Nuclear power plants use water based cooling systems. The waste is put into barrels and locked away underground in sealed up stone storage bunkers.

And the reason the rest of Europe needed energy from Russia in the first place was because of their deranged far left green policies. In fact Trump warned Germany about it and they laughed at him.

Renewable infrastructure is fine and dandy, but cutting off what we are currently using and forcing it through is not the answer. In fact it’s demented. Electric cars are far too expensive for the common person, yet Biden shuts down pipelines and fights against fracking and puts us in things like the Green New Deal, which has been nothing but a scam. The US is the only country paying for it while all the other countries and private interests line their pockets with it.

We should continue to use what resources we have available while we invest in finding better ways to generate clean energy. The turbines ain’t cutting it. Personally I think there is some merit to using perpetual motion generators and should be investing in perfecting that. If every home had a batch of high quality ones installed in boxes on the roof or something every person could have their own with no power grid needed. I’ve seen people make small, slow ones and power light bulbs and shit with them. The concept is there.

Fracking is a great way to poison yourself and collapse your house, it’s a terrible idea that causes more problems that it solves. I’m wondering what will happen at the convention next month. There’s already a lot of parallels between this year and 1968. They’re even holding the DNC in the same city.

Well, the delegates are voting almost 2 weeks before the convention is scheduled. What then is the point of even having it? With all the other curve balls this election has thrown us who’s to say foregoing with a convention that’s been rendered meaningless by virtual voting all together isn’t on the table?

If he even said that and meant it sincerely. I’m used to his statements being interpreted creatively. The 22nd amendment has only existed since 1951, and the country did nothing but trend toward being more democratic without it. Senators were chosen by state legislatures until 1913. Presidents were chosen by electors until 1804. The franchise was expanded multiple times, and direct democracy was introduced in 1778 in the form of statewide referendums and has been expanded on in the form of ballot initiatives since then.

He doesn’t have absolute immunity, just immunity for official acts of office, which is why his hush money case is still going to sentencing in September, and the documents case was thrown out on grounds that had nothing to do with him being immune. Other countries, such as France, Germany, etc. that otherwise have stricter anti-corruption legislation than the U.S. have executive and legislative immunity on the books. The U.S. has had de facto presidential immunity the whole time, which is why W. and Obama never had any fear of consequences arising from the GWOT. Before this cycle, everybody understood that attempting to prosecute the opposition’s ex-presidents would make us a banana republic.

Yes, the democrats canceling state primaries to protect Biden, hiding his condition from the voters so that he wouldn’t face a real primary challenge, then throwing it all away to appoint their back-room replacement is a regression of democracy in favor of the machine politics that they prefer.

I assume they’re voting early in lieu of redoing the primaries, since the convention is just weeks away. It’s just a formality to (re)assign delegates who would have otherwise been distributed through elections, and they don’t have time to redo those.

The convention will still be held unless there is a very good reason not to. A massive event like that can’t just be canceled on a whim, given the effort they go through to organize it. And the fact that they’ve been holding them regularly for almost 200 years means it’s a long standing tradition which can’t be discarded just because.

But for Harris, having the convention is actually more important than usual. First, there was never a proper launch event for the Harris solo run and the convention could double as that. But more importantly, the most important thing Harris needs right now is for a bunch of well-respected figures within the party to go on a stage and gush over how much faith they have in her leadership. If there appears to be a consensus among the party’s leader that she’s the right candidate, the rank-and-file of the party will quickly accept it and dissent can be easily sidelined.

It was an unwritten rule which persisted as a tradition since 1796, and it took an extremely popular president in a crisis to finally violate it.

They still are. Are you thinking of the 12th amendment? That just changed the way the vice president was elected.
