Big cheats for this one.
I don’t have much to say about “Don’t Hug Me I’m Scared”, though I feel like the shorts are a sort of rite of passage any denizen of the internet will eventually have to sit through. Honestly I found them all try hardy and insufferable to sit through. I don’t have anything against making something cutesy and turn its head around and make it gruesome and violent. On that end we have something like “Happy Tree Friends”, which is horrific, but it’s utterly hilarious.
On the other end, we have this, which I very much didn’t enjoy. Thinking back to it fills me with negativity, which is probably what they were going for. If they were aiming for repulse then goal achieved.
So yeah, I don’t think I’m a big fan of these shorts, but it doesn’t matter. They have many fans already, so I’m just in the minority over here.
I’ve never run into someone who is simultaneously pro-HTF and anti-DHMIS. The opposite is almost to be expected. I disagree that Happy Tree Friends is funny. I watched it a lot when I was younger, and I got mostly pathos out of it. To be fair on that point, my preference was the Flippy and Flaky shorts.
