To be fair, while the intent is obviously archiving, I would be inclined to agree and I don’t think this is really a useful rule. The Pony Archive would almost certainly contain all images that were posted to any of the booru at any point, and a searchable interface to it that could be used to locate art is apparently planned. And if the art is at all notable or has at least a few people caring about it, chances are it’s probably getting backed up on Rainbooru as well. So in that sense, there’s not that much benefit from having Ponybooru specifically making it available, and I’d argue in favour of artist rights in this case.
Seems like a pretty weird line to me, as well. DNPs are already being honoured, which means that edits can often have “no other legitimate place” to be uploaded (again, except Rainbooru or archives), yet Ponybooru is fine with no-edits DNPs, taking the stance of the artists and delegating the task of archiving to other sites. Yes no-nothing DNPs have an exception, which expectedly will annoy artists.
I do know that rules are supposedly going to be updated soon (and are expected to generally not be set in stone during this early period anyway), so maybe this can be reconsidered.
