Global Filters

So, question: Why the hell is there anything at all on the ‘Everything’ filter, and why does the default filter specific things instead of one general ‘politics’ tag?
 
 
Yes, especially those OCs, there’s plenty of art of them that isn’t political except for the flank stamp that everyone and their mother seems to get butthurt over on one of them, the smaller of the two doesn’t even have THAT to use as an excuse.

I’m still making judgement calls, and I’m far from being done or set.  
Politics tag, I can add that in default - that’s not a problem.
 
The idea of default filters being used is so a user has to consciously change their filter. In doing so they agree to the rules, and the subsequent restrictions therein. Same with the Everything filter, which is an extra step requiring login. (Or again, a conscious effort to evade.)
 
I’m attempting to work with some people to try and make it so we don’t get blocked abroad - filters are good for that.

I can get Aryanne getting filtered simply for rump marking, even if i disagree with such, but the filly? What’s your reasoning behind that one?

Seeing as Luftkrieg doesn’t actually have a buttmark I can understand the question there. There’s no actual nazi imagery or implications based solely on the character, or in most of their images that I’ve seen.
 
Properly tagging images of them with ‘nazi’ when appropriate for the image, and leaving the character out of the filter does make sense.

The general thought process behind that was putting stuff people would glance at and may immediately take offense to on the filter, is that they’d be less likely to find it. And if they did find it, by changing their filter, they made a conscious effort to do so.
 
There will be more filter changes and stuff , it’s very much ongoing right now.

Well, the point is the site is open for everyone. And i can understand this decision based on “person who don’t like those things doesn’t immediately want to see Aryanne or Foalcon on their front page”. Regardless of twitter mob or not, it’s mostly to keep your back safe from individuals who will claim they weren’t warned about this before accessing the frontpage.
 
I know it sounds stupid, but you have to understand that people are what they are. The main thing is that tags aren’t shadowbanned and you can access them via custom filters.
 
And yes, filter descriptions should be adjusted. There’s a lot of things to be done tbh, but everything needs to be discussed and thought out before final decisions.

Maybe rename the current “Everything” filter to “EU-Complaint” and create a true “Everything” filter?

Lol, I got banned from derpi today for “downvote abuse” and not filtering things that “offend” me.
 
There’s plenty of shit I don’t wanna see that I already filter. They basically banned me for using a site feature in a way they find “problematic”.
 
I’d ask for receipts, but I frankly no longer care, I have ponybooru now, so long as the staff here sticks to their guns.

The issue is more ‘why do you need an account for this’ which finally got answered. I’ll be semi-reconstructing my filter from Derpi later (when the ban expires- right now shit’s cursed and i can’t even scrape my upvotes) and retooling it for here. Until then, i already made an actually everything filter.

Weird thing is, I wasn’t doing anything differently. The only thing I can think of is I was downvoting low effort pride posts. Just slapping a rainbow flag on a cannon character is neither stunning nor brave.
