I can’t believe they’re forcing schools to re-open as a power move… what’s more important, keeping kids alive or threatening to pull funding to force the issue? HMM.

It turns out, Trump was lying about being able to defund schools and very little school funding comes from the federal government and most of it comes from state and local resources, or–worse–the teachers themselves for school supplies (when they don’t get paid nearly enough for that)

All our vacation plans are essentially screwed due to covid, so I guess summer is a waste…

Modern schools are just government indoctrination centers.  
Kids are better off.

It’s worse. Modern schools are the epicenter of the worst child sex abuse epidemic of all time and no one is allowed to criticize the precious teachers because the middle class moral busybody soccer moms will bray “Think of the children!”  
 
I know, I was almost finished with getting my teaching degree. I looked long and hard into just how corrupt the system is (and the total moral aberrance of my fellow students in the teaching program) and I couldn’t live with myself if I had any part of it, so I left. An upperclassman also infiltrated the state teachers’ union and revealed to the world just how corrupt they are and people still refuse to believe.
 
And yes, for anyone who raises objections, you’re* cousin’s sister is probably the bestest teacher in the whole universe who is as pure as the driven snow, but 99% of teachers are not and your anecdote does not alter reality. I’ve know a handful of great teachers. Those great teachers inspired me to pursue that career, but they are so few and far between it’s not even funny.
 
*not you in particular, but in the generic for anyone who would raise such an objection.

Then cutting federal funding won’t do much will it? It’s not like they get that much anyway.

Damn the Wuhans for not properly cleaning and disinfecting their meat. Were it not for them, I would have gotten my bat soup safely.

Amen to that.

I blame the spike in new Covid-19 cases on idiots who thought that their right to go wherever they please was more important than keeping everybody safe. Not only that, but they also think being an American and having constitutional rights means they don’t have to listen to any guidelines, including wearing a mask.

I think pretty much everyone is. For good reason, too; they don’t wanna catch the virus.

I’m tired of getting yanked around in six different directions, and especially tired of this bizarre notion that the virus is politically conscious and will only infect the “bad” gatherings of people.

Exactly so. Which is funny since one would think that thousands of people roaming the streets & fighting would spread the disease faster than a few hundred people sitting on one place.

I live in northern Spain, and we had weeks without any cases. We were able to walk outside without masks and only put them on inside as a preventive measure… and then some asshole tourists (from the region and outside it) go on vacation to the covid-19 hotspots in Spain (that are always on TV I might add), get infected and import the virus back in…
 
Back to masks all the time and people getting crazy over it. I get that people want to enjoy the summer, but god dammit guys. We were almost there here…
 
I feel you guys there in the US. Stay safe and keep your cool when going outside.

I live in the hotspot in Florida. Well, we’re not just a hotspot, we are the hottest spot and place with most deaths now and ICU bedding in all of the USA. Fuck me….

What doesn’t make sense is that people in the US get the virus and stay sick for months, but people in India and Brazil recover in days. They have to be lying. There’s no other explanation. They have to be declaring sick patients recovered because the health infrastructure doesn’t exist to support them all, just like they did in Iran. They have to be lying about deaths too.
