After my recent posts about Golden Letter, a few people have been asking about whether or not Rosie or Impala ever reunite. The Answer is yes, they do meet up when they are both younger.
After a fight between Rosie and her step mother, she was informed that she was indeed adopted. After weeks and months of chipping away and pestering at her father, Jasper finally revealed the name of Rosie’s biological mother, Scarlet Letter, and told her to drop it…. But Rosie was only scratching the surface. It took a few months of thorough investigation, looking through records, asking the Canterlot gossips, even pulling up old newpapers from 10 years ago.. Eventually Rosie found out that Scarlet was only alias and her real name was Golden Letter, or better known as Golden Bells, the wife of the very wealthy and high class noble, Canterbury Bells.
Mystery solved, right? Noooope, not for this filly! Rosie wants answers and she thinks this Canterbury Bells might have the answers. After sneaking out and skipping school, Rosie made her way across Canterlot, to the higher class neighborhood to a large mansion. Thinking crafty, she decided to go around back to the fenced in garden area to sneak in, so to avoid suspicion. After sneaking into the foliage and flower beds, Rosie noticed that there was a couple of ponies in the garden. From the look of it, was a teenager, Impala Lily, and elderly pony who looks to be teaching her. A tutor perhaps?
After the tutor finished his lesson and went inside, Rosie decided to make her move. Rosie approached the teenager, who kindly reminded the filly that this was private property and she’s not suppose to be back here. Rosie explained that she was in the middle of an investigation and was looking for somepony of interest and was wondering if the mare could answer a few questions. Impala was amused by how professional sounding this little filly was and how serious she was taking it, so she decided to amuse her.
After a quick introduction, the calm and chipper mood suddenly became dark and heavy when Rosie started asking about a mare who use to live here, whose name was Golden Bells… Once Impala told Rosie that was her mother, Rosie’s face instantly lite up as she started telling her about how Golden was her mother too and that must mean they are half sisters. Impala had guessed as much, Rosie seemed to be about the right age and even though she saw her for only for a few days, Impala recognized the pink hair and long leonine tail…. To Impala, this child was the reason why her mother left her.. this child was the reason her parents separated and she never saw her mother again… The conversation quickly became cold and quiet…. Until a tall unicorn stallion approached the girls, asking who Impala’s little friend was… It was Canterbury Bells himself.
After a quick recap, Canterbury retreated back to make contact with Rosie’s parents so that they could come pick her up. Once Jasper arrived, Canterbury and Jasper exchanged a few colorful words about money, Jasper’s upcoming promotion, and responsibility and.. of course Golden Letter. It was loud enough that the two sister in the garden could tell they were yelling, but not what about. Rosie explained that her father likes to yell about a lot of things but never once talked about her mother, saying that she never knew her. She only wanted answers, but not to cause any troubles.
The first meeting was a bit awkward, as Impala didn’t know much about Golden since she left when she was young, and Rosie was “technically” the reason for that? But later Impala learned to love her little sister and come to the understanding that Rosie isn’t at fault for anything. Rosie unfortunately wasn’t able to find much answers, but she did find she had a natural problem solving knack, which comes to use when she joins the guard years later. Throughout the years Rosie and Izzy, as Rosie started calling her, kept in contact and saw each other but since Impala was quite a few years older, she ended up going to a medical school which took up a lot of her time.
