Description

I have to agree with Pika here.

The original meaning of trolling has been lost for quite a long time. Pika’s the classic troll; making silly points that only those who are adamant about their thoughts/opinions will consider offensive.

Trolls nowadays are people that jump into a forum about gender/race equality and going “Whenever I meet a black chick I’m not sure if I should ask her to go to the kitchen to make me a sandwich or go back to pick cotton” and waiting for the (obvious) backfire. That’s what people are calling trolls right now. That’s a weird way of calling them “irredeemable assholes”.

People who actively punch you in sensitive and controversial spots aren’t trolls, no matter how much you want to simply call them that, when much more blunt words work better. A troll goes for stuff that only bothers you because you’re adamant in your believes, thoughts and opinions in stuff that isn’t relevant. In my case, me being quite knowledgeable about Norse Mythology, get trolled (in the classic sense) when people start saying that Marvel Universe’s Thor is better than the one in the original Eddas. 99.9% of the people won’t give a damn about that, but I get slightly annoyed, and I know I shouldn’t. This is similar to the flame wars about which shipping is the real one in the Mane 6. If I would say right now “Screw SpitDash; SpitPie is my OTP” I’ll have (mostly faceless) people jumping at my throat vomiting their headcanons at me.
