As Sweetie Belle got older, she and many of her classmates became interested in dating and romance. The colt that caught her eye was none other than Button Mash, Ponyville’s local gamer and, in her opinion, the cutest colt in school.  
However, Button Mash wasn’t interested in girls. He just wanted to play video games all day. He was even learning how to program and develop games of his own. Needless to say, this was a very one-sided crush.  
Frustrated by her poor luck in catching Button’s eye, Sweetie Belle decided to ask some of her classmates (and her sister) for dating advice. Many of them told her to dress up and look pretty for his attention, but that plan fell flat pretty quickly. So, Sweetie decided to just talk to him and try to become friends with him. The two ended up having a discussion based solely on video games. That’s when Sweetie realized that the way to Button Mash’s heart was through his video game addiction.  
Sweetie Belle started playing video games solely so she could win over her crush. Surprisingly, she turned out to be really good at gaming and Button became genuinely interested in being her friend after learning this. The two became good friends and got to know each other just as they played video games together. Sweetie Belle even started gaming on her own with no intention of winning Button over.  
Eventually, puberty began catching up with Button Mash. Part of this puberty was a newfound interest in girls…especially one filly in particular. While most of these feelings may have just been a product of teenage hormones, there was a part of Button that truly liked Sweetie Belle.  
Soon, Button realized he legitimately had a crush on Sweetie Belle. While he tried to hide his feelings, he failed so hard at doing so that even Sweetie Belle could see through it. Somehow, it became official that they were dating even though neither of them had officially asked each other out. As hard as he tried to resist it, Button had little choice but to just go with the flow.  
After spending their adolescence “dating” (but mostly just hanging out as friends), Sweetie and Button kind of went their separate ways. They still had gaming sessions together, but Sweetie Belle made it big in the music industry and Button Mash went off to a school in Manehattan to get a degree in game development, so both of them were quite busy with their own lives. However, the feelings they had for each other never completely went away.  
Fast forward a few years, Button Mash graduated from game development school. While working on some new games for the arcade he was building, Button started thinking about how much Sweetie Belle would love them. That’s when he decided to get back in touch with her.  
Meanwhile, Sweetie was still making it big in the music industry. However, despite the crowds cheering her name, she felt lonely. She missed her friends, and she was jealous that Rarity and her friends were settling down and having foals while she had nopony. Thus, Sweetie took a hiatus from her job and went back to Ponyville.  
Button and Sweetie finally reunited after they both returned to Ponyville. While they had matured and gotten older, neither of them had changed much in the other’s eyes. It was just like old times.  
Soon after rekindling their friendship, Button Mash and Sweetie Belle started dating again. They even fell into a romance. Eventually, both Button and Sweetie decided they wanted to get married. They each had plans for proposing, but neither of them knew that the other was even considering popping the question. Button Mash built a hoofheld gaming device for Sweetie that would give her hints as she played until the question was displayed at the end. On the other hoof, Sweetie wrote a song that she planned to sing to her lover when the time was right.  
One night, both Sweetie and Button decided they were ready to propose. They coincidentally decided to go to the exact same place to do so. Just as Sweetie prepared to sing her song, Button tossed a gift box at her. After realizing what was happening, Sweetie and Button shared some awkward laughter but went through with the song and the game anyway. And so they were officially engaged.  
Button Mash and Sweetie Belle had a wonderful wedding surrounded by all their friends and family. The newlyweds enjoyed their new life together until Sweetie told Button she wanted a child.  
They tried and tried to conceive, but with no luck. After consulting the doctor, Sweetie was told that she had very low chances of bearing a foal. Heartbroken, she went into denial and tried harder to prove the doctor wrong. After over a year of this, Sweetie Belle accepted her fate and stopped trying.  
Soon after, Sweetie Belle found out she was pregnant. She and Button were both overjoyed to have a player three on the way! Sweetie’s pregnancy went fairly smoothly for the most part, but giving birth was a nightmare. The birthing process was filled with so much pain and complication that she had to get her reproductive organs removed to save her life. Luckily, Button and Sweetie had a healthy baby girl, their little Diamond Mine.  
Despite the fact that they could never have another child, Sweetie Belle and Button Mash were happy with their daughter. Diamond Mine was raised with all the love and attention a filly could want, and for that she was grateful. However, she really wants a sibling but her parents keep avoiding the subject. Oh well, they’re a happy family anyway.
