Description
A bit overdue, this one was meant for December 13th, the night of Santa Lucia. Still not sure how much it’s celebrated outside Scandinavia, but I do adore it as one of the minor but strong lived December holidays around here. Usually celebrated at schools where children will practice weeks ahead to walk in a line in perfect pace to the song about Santa Lucia, walking with a lit candle each while wearing white robes. On front is the Lucia Bride, wearing the crown of four candles as she leads the procession. Performed during an evening gathering at the school, where parents come to watch the children do this walk and song. Not much else to it, just a nice little tradition celebrating light and hope during the darkest month of the year around here.Fluttershy would make a good Lucia Bride. Graceful, beautiful voice and that serene calm that comes with the role. That is, if she’s not hit by stage fright of course. Still wanted to draw her for this, sadly things dragged out as I couldn’t finish it in time for Lucia Day.
I still listen to the “A Pony Kind Of Christmas” song collection, and do love Fluttershy’s cover of Silent Night. Whenever I listen to that one, I do get this image in my head. It’s not the right song for Santa Lucia, but it fits her so well for a getup. Background, shading and light is a bit rushed to get this one done, as I’m not sure I’ll have the time or energy for that these coming days. Working at a place that among things produces calendars and holiday cards, you can really feel it during December. So, I just wanted to make sure this thing at least got finished before Xmas.
