Surreal is right… in all that it had felt like many things. It pretty much was the most creative way of making fun of all the ship fic plots used in so many stories lol
We should have a [Thought Provoking] tag, so we can have a category for fics that address philosophical motifs like existentialism and objectivism.
I really enjoyed this fic. It’s open to all sorts of interpretation! Below is mine!
I was half way through when it finally hit me, the characters in the story are living in what the world would be like if all the common tropes in brony fan-fiction were true.
Very interesting story. A nice little deconstruction that did a nice job of setting a Twilight Zone-esque atmosphere.
I would argue that this in fact is not a shipping story at all even through it mentions elements common to them. The reason for this is that it completely lacks the core engagement of such a story, romance/love and all it’s beauty and being, or at the most basic level two or more characters being shipped together.
Instead it engages people by proposing a terrifying scenario and letting the mind be disturbed and horrifyed by it, thus revealing it’s nature as a (gore-free) horror story.
Thus I believe that it should lose the shipping tag (possibly retaining it as an “additional tag”) and instead gain the dark tag.
