It was one of the first shows she had performed after finally being announced as a Wonderbolt and it was all so new and fresh to her. It was an amazing experience. She had finally felt like she had belonged with a group of ponies that just… got her, you know? The night was young and she sure was going to make sure she made the best of it. Ponies had made sure to congratulate the new recruit with a drink or two, though Spitfire had to respectfully decline. Though she liked a good Cider every now and then, she didn’t feel as if this was the time to be having one. She was sure to take everything in and not screw anything up by being under the influence.
She was certainly glad she had set that rule for herself. She had had the opportunity to take in everypony else’s mistakes versus making sure she was in check. Soarin’ being one of those ponies. Her classmate or should she say matching recruit, was simply ripping it on the dance floor. So much so it caused the Captain to get a hold of the intoxicated pony and pull him aside to cool off.
Spitfire glanced over and across the large venue and smiled in contentment. She felt like after all those years, she had finally made her dream come true. Though… that also brought up the issue. What was next? She had always kept her head locked on the future of her job, That being a Wonderbolt, that she hadn’t kept her eye anywhere else. So, now that she had the job… what was left? surely there was the pure joy of doing what she loved for the rest of her life, but there was so much more to life. Wasn’t there? She supposed so. But then again… what was it?
She had kept mingling with the other ponies in the venue, laughing and smiling with friends, cracking jokes to the Sargent and so on, but then.. She had jolted at the sound of an introductory note being sung across the large ball room. After the initial snickers from the Sargent were over, she turned to the initial source of the sound. The annoyance she had felt towards the initial teasing had set aside as she had set eyes on one of the most stunning mares she had ever seen. Although one could think being drawn to somepony simply on looks was shallow, how could you not be drawn to such an eye catching mare? Throughout her performance it was as if everypony was stunned to silence or cheering to the mare in question.
This mare was made to be up on stage. Every dance move and every note she sang was just oozed with confidence and swagger that no pony Spitfire had every met seemed to match. And she hadn’t even met the mare for Celestia’s sake!
As Spitfire kept her eyes locked on the mare, she seemed to catch the eye of the mysterious mare as well. Seeing as she performed her song, she met eyes with her, a smirk arising to her lips.
Spitfire had to meet this mare.
