“She is.” He purred. He was just as happy as his mate. “It’s all she’s talked about since her naming ceremony.” Every sphinx cub, at a certain age must prove themselves worthy of a name before the Sphinx Queen. Only after such a time, was a cub granted the privilege of having a name. So despite being named at birth, Des was nameless until her turn came about.
“Have you taught her Equish yet?” She suddenly though, horrified at the notion her daughter wouldn’t be able to communicate with others. Or worse- “I made her a cake and it would be a shame if she couldn’t read it.” Asra snorted, covering a chuckle behind his paw.
“I taught her all that, Habi.” He assured her as they drew closer to the party room. Empress Luna had set up a welcome party for her daughter and was looking forward to seeing all the friends she’d make. Asra didn’t get it, figuring it was just a pony thing but was looking forward to seeing it. “Trust me, yeah?”
“Right.” She stared up at her consort, feeling her heart flutter as he stared back at her. Their muzzles drew closer just as a shout rang through the hall.
“Hadhih “alkeakata” hi ly!” (This “cake” is mine!)A small sweet voice that Luna knew by heart hissed, followed by the scattered sound of hooves rushing about. Panicked, the two parents rushed into the room.
In front of Desert’s ‘welcome to Equestria’ cake, the little hybrid stood aggressively. Her eyes wide and her fangs gleaming as she hissed warning, making the foal as well as the adults move away. Her tail was fluffed up and she looked ready to attack at any moment.
“…” Both Luna and Asra stood buy the door, taking in the scene in silence. Luna’s jaw was nearly reaching the the floor while Asra looked on, amused and proud.
“Taghadar min huna khashyat ‘an ‘anhi hayatuk bi’anyab! (Depart from here lest I end your life with my fangs!)” She spat, swiping her small but sharp claws at some poor soul who was too close. She didn’t reach them but she definitely made it clear.
No one getting near her cake.
“W-what is she-” Luna started, turning to her consort only to stop when she saw his manic grin.
“Ah, thats my cub!” He purred, looking close to tears. “Asserting her dominance and claiming territory on her first try? How fierce.”
“Is that what’s shes doing?!”
It’s a Sphinx thing, love.” He said simply, shrugging. “Ponies wouldn’t get it.”
