Okay, here’s where I reveal my bias: This episode might be my favorite in the entire show, bar none. Part 2 is also pretty good, but A Canterlot Wedding Part 1 is just wonderful to rewatch when you already know the twist. In storytelling structure, climax is everything, and the climax of this episode takes the “nightmare fiancé” narrative it had been building up (and preparing to reverse) and completely jumps the rails with it.

Transcript:
Applejack: Anyway – “Howdy, Cadance!”
Princess Cadance: “Please, call me ‘“Princess Mi Amore Cadenza.’”
Applejack: “Heh heh heh… whatever you say, Princess.” Applejack clearly doesn’t give a darn. Ah show her some of mah homemade apple fritters. “Here’s a preview of the menu for the big day.”
Princess Cadance: She tries one, and… smiles! “Aha, delicious. I love love LOVE them.”
Rainbow Dash: Why does that sound like something a robot who can’t taste anything would say?
Twilight Sparkle: Mostly the inflection, I think.
