Twilight smiled wide. “My Star Flare is doing great. Tempest is training him in more defense tactics and he’s growing more.”
 
“Yes I remember when he was quite shrimpy.” Cadence chuckled. “Well how is Stella?”
 
Twilight rolled her eyes. “She has become a mini Tempest. She wants to be part of the royal guard and fight bad guys. At least that’s what she says. It makes Tempest tear up every time she hears her say that.”
 
“Well Flurry is learning well under my care.” Cadence patted her daughters hoof next to her. “She is exceedingly brilliant.”
 
“I can only expect that from our little Cadence’s baby.” Luna made a face, sticking by her tongue out at Cadence as the pink mare sighed an irritated sigh.
 
“Tell us about Val. We are around Flurry and we hear about her so much that we never get to know what your other foal is up to.” Celestia asked. Her eyes gleamed as if she was asking about her grandkids. Which, in a way, she was.
 
“We haven’t seen him yet. He’s still out traveling. We’re starting to get a bit worried, but he should be fine.” Cadence looked over at Twilight. “When is Star Flare going to make his Royal Journey?”
 
Twilight looked confused. “Why does nobody tell me what that is?”
 
Celestia laughed. “It’s the journey that a young ruler makes. He or she stays disguised he whole time and travels Equestria, learning about the ponies and types of creatures he will be overseeing so as to be a better ruler.”
 
Twilight nodded. “So that’s why Val’s been gone so long!” Twilight tapped her chin with her hoof. “Star will probably leave soon, knowing him, he already knows about it.”
 
Luna sighed wistfully. “Blackout misses her best friend.” Luna spoke pointedly at Cadence. “She likes to pretend that he’s there sometimes and they play soldiers. It’s sweet.”
 
Celestia nodded. “Callisto finds the castle quite boring without Val accidentally burning something to the ground with her.” Celestia then realizes, “Oh! No offense, Flurrious.”
 
Flurry shook her head. “No, it’s fine. They always got in way too much trouble for my taste.”
 
Luna then piped up. “How are things with Pound Cake? I heard you two have been getting cozy.”
 
Flurry blushed. “He’s very kind. He’s a gentlestallion, really. I’ve never met anybody like him.”
 
“Well hey,” Celestia piped up, fluffing her wings out at full span, stretching across all the princesses, “if he breaks your heart just let us know and we’ll break his face.” Celestia winked at a blushing Flurry. Luna attempted to stretch her wings out as far as her sisters, but wasn’t even close, so she put them away, which caused an avalanche of laughter from around the table.
