59 years ago today, a dog was launched into space and became the first living animal to reach orbit around the Earth. Sadly, she did not survive the trip back, but her sacrifice helped scientists to realize that mammals can survive the zero gravity of space.
 
In honor of that poor pooch, I drew a picture of our Laika.
 
I’ve drawn her as a child and as a young adult before, so I figured I’d draw her as a teen. It was drawn at work, so forgive the uncleanliness and errors. Also, I suck at drawing flowers.
