My submission for NATG VIII: Day 5.

Today’s prompt was “Draw a pony enjoying a summer treat / Draw a pony beating the summer heat.” I had a couple ideas originally for this one, based around ways of trying to literally draw a pony “beating” the summer heat. But I couldn’t properly think of a way to draw something like that, outside drawing, say, Pinkie beating Celestia commically, or something, but I didn’t really want to draw something like that. You shouldn’t hit a princess. Surely there was other submission based on this pun though, so I’m sure someone figured a good way to make the pun.

Anyhoof, majorly late this time. I would love to blame my computer, and I do for being 10 minutes later than I originally was, sweat mother bucking Celestia it just froze for a good 10 minutes trying to swap to Chrome to submit and then eventually just trying to kill Chrome … but submitted now, so whatever. The other reason is I just started late. I was feeling real unmotivated to draw, half based on that I couldn’t think of anything good to draw for it and I wanted to try something more since it’s a Saturday here and I actually have time for once, but I just wasn’t feeling it. So I decided, finally 2–2.5 hours from the deadline, that I’d just do a Dash relaxing in the sun on that beach chair thing from a couple episodes. Actually, the chair from the episodes has hand hoof rest on either side the chair, but the chair was the last thing I had to do and I was just done once I’d got what I’ve done here and thought “buck it, it looks fine without them.” I actually would’ve been on time if it weren’t for having to draw the chair. But besides, you can see more of Dashie this way. I also wanted to do a referenceless drawing as well, but I just wasn’t feeling that either, so this is another referenced drawing.

Despite the huge hassle and pain I went through first geting myself to start drawing it, finally trying to finish it despite being passed the deadline, and then Chrome bucking me over, the drawing itself come out just fine, I think. Unfortunatelly no shading once again; if I had time I imagined this looking quite nice with shading, trying to make it look like she was actually bathing in sun rays, but ah well. This can just be another one to appreciate the regular flat-cartoony style. It looks good in the show, after all.

Now I’m going to take some time to seriously wind down. And to reheat my cold dinner and eat that. Kinda’ forgot I had it here, to be honest.
