When I am working on a large commission for a client and we are in the early stages I will often offer multiple ideas of how the concept, project, problem can be approached or tackled. Only one idea will usually be done as a final piece but often I will take some of the concepts and develop later for my own projects or other clients.
A while back ryan-pawz commissioned me to do a picture of anthro-unicorn Petina getting melted chocolate poured all over her (>>1188731). In the second set of sketches I mentally played around with the concept of substituting molten sugar. Yes it’s hot but one way or another Petina is going to need some type of heat protection spell for either molten chocolate or sugar. Then started pondering what kind of results you would get if you allowed the sugar to cool and harden (>>1188745).
Well another one of my watchers and clients took a look at sketches and in the second set they particularly liked the one in the bottom right. I’ve included in the bottom right of this posting. However I was not 100% certain that this was the best possible angle to show off the effect so yesterday I quickly did three other possible angles for the consider. The client is currently deliberating and will get back to me with their decision.
Now soon after getting the 1st commission I had had a dream in which Petina showed me a book of “experimental art photography” she’d posed for and almost all of the thumbnails sketches had been realized as full color images plus further “ideas” she’d come up with. Well asked me to do a sketch of his character Clear Skies in anthro form talking to an anthro form of Petina in her place and he happens to be looking at that book (>>1188149). So I have gotten three art pieces out of those sketches!
