🌙✨ Date for the Night (SciFlash) Redraw!

I’ve been wanting to redraw one of my old SciFlash pieces for quite some time now. The original one from 2017 is one of my better-known artworks, and the one people on my stories mostly voted for me to redraw.

I am SO glad I gave this concept a revamp, because 2024 me has SOOOOOO many gripes with the original (especially the anatomy and shading 😅) and I think I was able to make some big improvements! You know, I often times get the feeling that my art hasn’t really changed or stepped up all that much ever since I started with digital back in 2017-2018, but looking at these two pieces side-by-side, I can see how far I’ve actually come, and even though I obviously still have a lot to improve nowadays, I think it’s good to appreciate the progress one’s made from time to time. 17-year-old Ro would definitely be proud. ^^💖

Oh, and I guess this technically counts as my early birthday piece for this year? Half of it at least, the other half’s going to @oc_robrooks on the actual day, wink wink. Not what I usually make for the date, but hey, 25 is kind of a milestone in a lot of ways, so I guess a walk down memory lane and celebrating my art journey so far isn’t a half bad way to celebrate. 😉

Date for the Night 2024 (SciFlash Redraw)

I know I don’t draw nearly as much SciFlash these days as I did a few years ago, but considering how they were more or less ALL I drew back in the day, I’ve kind of ran out of new ideas for them. So I thought remaking an old piece of them would be a good idea to not only bring you guys fresh SciFlash content that didn’t require too much thinking (because I’ve been feeling a bit burnt out these days), but also to appreciate how much my art has improved since then.

I often get the feeling that my artstyle hasn’t really changed all that much since I started doing digital, but I think this remake is proof that it indeed has. I still have a lot of room to keep improving nowadays of course, but it’s good to appreciate how far one has come from time to time. :heart:

Wow, to think I was 17 and still in high school when I made the original piece, and I’ll be turning 25 in just a couple of days… it’s crazy.

Anyways, this was a lot of fun to revamp, and I’d honestly like to redraw a few more of my old SciFlash artworks in the near future (amongst other things of course, I won’t do just that), so feel free to suggest pieces for that.
