Backstory: Before Irene Sky was born, their mother, Sweetheart Song, had fled from Canterlot with her daughter Destiny Blood to settle into a safe place from a witch-hunt against Destiny’s father, Ambrosius. Eventually they settled into Ponyville, where Sweetheart Song began dating a Pegasus stallion named Heavy Metal, who was a talented metal singer. However, he had problems with his professional and personal life, that he became alcoholic and abusive, even being violent towards Destiny and Sweetheart Song on some occasions. Despite the abuse that was going on at the time, the couple had managed to give birth to Iris, making Destiny her older half-sister. Shortly after Iris’s birth, she and Destiny had an unconditional love for each other, and they were always there for each other when things got difficult. Because of how young and vulnerable Iris was at the time, she and Destiny kept themselves safe in a small shack near their home.

After Heavy Metal’s terror had ended, life was never the same for Iris’s family, especially Destiny, whom Iris had to get help for. As Iris grew up, she struggled to control her anger and behavioral issues, which Sweetheart Song assumed came from her traumatic past. Luckily, with Destiny’s help, Iris has managed to control these emotions, but still struggles to do so when faced with a difficult situation.

At one point in her life, Iris struggled with whether or not she’ll get her cutie mark. However, there were two things that she was passionate about: flying and sports. As a result, Irene flew around the sky to her heart’s desire, while also playing basketball with some friends.

Eventually, she and Destiny met Peach Sweetheart and Pretty Chill, though the latter would occasionally flirt with Iris despite her objections. Iris, Destiny, and Peach all met Neko Star, Clover Sparks, Blossom Breeze, and Super Pop after their special connection with the Special Gems, to which they formed a group called Destiny’s Squad, with Iris as the co-leader and youngest member of it, representing the Gem of Trust.

Iris was also one of the ponies who convinced Destiny to be herself and enjoy her relationship with Cheesy and Magic Muse.
