Well, I decided to redraw my old mlp redesigns! I was never fully satisfied with them to begin with, so I thought I could do better, plus update the art style. This time, I also want to add their backstories!

⚡⚡⚡⚡⚡⚡

The first five years of her life, Rainbowdash spent in the Orphanage at the outskirts of Equestria. Life there was difficult. Because RD is a batpony other kids never wanted to play with her or be friends, even adults looked scared of her and treated her poorly. The only pony that cared about her was Pinkie Pie! She was four years older than RD and was like a big sister to her. They played together and ate together, Pinkie Pie was always sure to give RD the best bits of already poor meals. Pinkie Pie protected RD from other kids and unfair adults, she also taught her how to read and write. Their lives in the orphanage were difficult, but together they could withstand anything!

But, at Rainbowdash’s 5th birthday, she got adopted, and she got to leave her big sister behind. Se was very sad and also scared of her new awaiting life. Because of the poor treatment at the orphanage, RD was very wary of her new parents. But she quickly learned that they were the best parents in the whole of Equestria (according to RD). She also now had three adoptive siblings, who became her friends very quickly.

After adoption, RD, together with her new family, moved to live in Cloudsdale. Because of RD’s appearance, she was constantly bullied by other pegasi foals, and some adults were wary of her. Other kids would constantly tease her that she would never achieve her dream of becoming a Wonderbolt, because “only a true pegasus can become a Wonderbolt”. Thankfully, her new parent supported her dream, even paying for private flying classes with an ex-Wonderbolt.

With proper support and determination, Rainbowdash quickly became the best flyer in each year of her school. She even received a scholarship to the Cloud Factory college, which she attended later.

When RD turned 12, she started to work as a mailpony to start to have her own money. She started to frequent to the Ponyville for her job. At first, ponies there were wary of her, but they quickly accepted Rainbowdash as their own.

In Ponyville Raibowdash quickly became friends with a shy pony, that lived on the outskirts of the town - Fluttershy, who never judged or feared her, but rather accepted her from the beginning. After work, the batpony loved to just hang out with Fluttershy and help her with her animals and flowers. It was some sort of escape from the rest of the world for her.

Another pony, That RD was somewhat close with, was Applejack. She worked with her during her college years, she even wrote her final paper on Applejack’s farm. The two were never close, their relationship was rather stale, and not because Applejack didn’t like RD, but because Applejack was very cold to the outsiders and VERY protective of her family, which was very surprising, considering how open and warm the rest of her family was. But it never bothered Rainbowdash, she loves a good challenge! And helping this ice of a pony to finally open up and show her true colors was THE challenge!

When RD was 14 she received the best “birthday gift” ever! Her big sister, Pinkie Pie, moved to Ponyville! RD was on the 7th cloud from happiness and spend the first 2 weeks just living with Pinkie Pie. She told her sister everything that happened to her, even introduced her to her new family. She also wanted to know what happened to Pinkie after she left the orphanage, but the pink pony was very evasive with her answers, which was strange, considering that Pinkie Pie was always a chatterbox. But it didn’t matter to RD, she will always be here for her sister.

Because RD is a batpony, her schedule is quite different from the regular ponies. Batponies are nocturnal, they are more active at dusk and night, and they prefer to sleep during the day. But since RD lived among ponies for her whole life, her sleep schedule shifted to be more active during the day. Though, RD still likes to sleep till noon and go to sleep at midnight.

Rainbowdash has very good hearing, even better than the dog, though, she learned to use it selectively to not overwhelm herself with constant sounds. She also has good night vision, but her day vision is rather poor. She uses special dark googles during the day to protect her sensitive eyes from the harsh light.

Life for Rainbowdash started rough, she faced many challenges since she was a little filly, but she never would have expected how much her life would change after meeting just one pony, Twilight Sparkle.
