Pumpkin Cake and her partner Mocha Berry with their kids,
Charlotte Cassata, Pavlova Gateau, and Boston Cream
At some point before the cake twins grew into adults Pinkie Pie bought a large share of Sugarcube Corner from The Cakes, with the twins growing up they needed more than the built-on living space at the store and Pinkie was determined to keep using it as her base of opperations, so they split the business with her, taking the bits she gave to buy a larger house in the more residential area of the town.
The whole Cake family still uses Sugarcube corner to display sell their goods, it’s still partly theirs, and you can usually find at least one member of the family making use of the kitchen at any time, but only Pinkie Pie’s family lives and sleeps there. Pinkie did extend the building somewhat herself for her own kids as she started having more.
Pumpkin Cakes talent, like most ponies, is direct to her cutiemark, Pumpkin pie is her specialty, but she can also do pecan pie and similar treats. She loves spiced treats and thats how she met Mocha Berry, whose special talent is in caffeinated beverages with fruity, sweet, and spiced additions. The two got to talking trade and decided to pair their sweets and drinks together in fun and complementary ways. they soon started getting romantic and that was that.
Boston Cream is the first born and only son, he loves baking with his grandparents, his favourite flavour is chocolate anything and likes to add chocolate to things that don’t already have it but he’s willing to give any cake a go with cooking or eating. His true talent comes with composition though, he can position the food to serve it in the most appealing way, knowing just where to place toppings or sides.
Pavlova Gateau is the middle child and first daughter, her talent lies with sweets that are more adjacent to cakes, like meringue and macarons. When the family gets together in the kitchen to bake she would claim the job of whipping cream or piping things out for small details or snacks.
Charlotte Cassata is the youngest and can tend to have a bit of an attitute, her talent is in hosting tea parties, and she can be a bit strict on upholding ettiquite, so much so she might forget her own manners, but shes learning to be more relaxed when ponies are just having a casual time. She hopes to one day serve tea to the princesses themselves.
Design-wise I really wanted the girls to look like they had whipped cream for their manes and tails, I used a lot of aspects from Mrs Cakes mane and tail for them both. Boston I wanted to look more like his father but a little more put-together / fancy, so I added the ponytail and made his hair stick out less. I went back and forth a lot on adding the lighter purple to his hair but I liked it more when I re-did it.
