Welp… I finished all of Chapter 4 of Make Your Mark in basically one sitting and

W h e w I have thoughts

Since I basically gave my grievances in Chapter 2’s thought dump (which you can read chere-I’m With You I’ll be a bit more focused on the story beats this time around, starting off with…

I’m kinda glad there wasn’t as much fluff this chapter compared to Chapter 2, even though the bits that were there did drag a smidge in some places. And, my past worry about being stuck in Maretime Bay the whole show was resolved by the Netflix gods (hallelujah). Bridlewood was fun (if a little bland) and Zephyr Heights was as pretty as usual, so I can’t complain too much. Speaking of pegasi…

Queen Haven you better get your man yasss! I know we already secured a win over in Tell Your Tale, but to see it here too is so good. I love how gentle Alphabittle is too, we need more healthy older couple reps in the media tbh. Though, it was fun to see the sisters (and Sunny, apparently) be all grossed out by their mushiness. And y’know? I think Pipp is starting to grow on me. She’s still not my all time fav, but her personality is starting to show underneath the pink popstar influencer cover and I do like that. Zipp is developing a bit more too, softening the tough girl edge at times to just be real, and that makes her 20% cooler in my book.

Sunny and Hitch are freaking cute, I can’t say more than that. Actually, yes I can. Their interactions were really sweet and good communication? Yes. Please. And. Thank you! I love that for them. I’m a Sunzzy stan for keeps, but if I wasn’t this chapter could have tipped the scales in Hunny’s favor. And yes, Izzy continues to be a gem and I will cherish her always. (Though Sunny, we do need to talk about your stealing of private property without any paperwork or verbal agreements-not cool.)

Now into the meat and potatoes…

Opaline, my dear, I still do not like you. But damn do you know how to look cool when you want to. And funnily enough, my initial thoughts on her being associated with the princesses were (kinda) correct! I haven’t finished Tell Your Tale (or read the comics, so don’t fight me if my info is wrong), so I’m still not sure just how they came into contact with each other, but it does tickle my brain into thinking about how the Sun and Moon went into autopilot! …Aside from the obvious “Twilight put all the magic into the Unity Crystals including the spells that control the celestial bodies” route. Which…makes the most sense? Idk, even if I were to hear it a hundred times over I’d still try to find some alternate explanation because that’s just how my brain do.

And of course, how could I possibly forget..

MISTY HAS HER CUTIE MARK AND IS (KINDA) PART OF THE GROUP LET’S FUKIN GOOOOOO

God I couldn’t be happier for this girl. She’s finding her way out of a (honestly horrible) situation and is thriving as a result. I so resonate with her not completely being able to get out from Opaline when she’s all that she’s known-honestly giving me Rapunzel and Mother Gothel vibes now that I think about it, especially after having finished reading What Once Was Mine- but she’s not falling for the lies anymore and it warms my heart so much. You got this, sweetheart!

So yeah, overall a fun ride and I’m very interested to see what happens next!
