I had the idea to draw Twilight in Asa Mitaka’s iconic panel, something about it just spoke to me and I had to capture Twilight in her pose.

Of course there are changes, both to Twilight and to the meme itself, for one it’s a lot more bright and optimistic, whereas the original had this sort of cope to it, Twilight here wholeheartedly believes in her words(she’s correct btw), no pent up narcissism required!

I also made major changes to her hairstyle, my previous works had me experiment with her hair, so now I’m using my experience to adjust her hairstyle to as closely resemble Asa’s haircut as I can without sacrificing Twilight’s style entirely.

Additionally, I needed to capture the pose of the two, while their gesture was easily captured, their different anatomy posed a challenge.

My idea then, was to use her wings to act like the coat that Asa wore, acting like broad human shoulders, and while I did try experimenting giving Twilight more clothing, it was not meant to be, instead a simple fake collar proved all that was needed.

Overall I think it worked out in the end, I might do a colored version but just as a portrait, adding color ruins the manga feel imo.
