Original Description:
The Mortal Paper Fist:
As an Alicorn we’re going to stand out in a crowd. Ponies (and perhaps Kirin) going to assume we are royalty, which could lead to some awkward situations. Best to avoid that by covering up our wings with our Cloak of Feather Fall while travelling.
You figure that while you are travelling, it would be best to conceal your alicorn features from unfamiliar eyes. To that end, you don the feathered cloak you once purchased for a royal price, and hide your princely wings underneath.
You equip Blue Cloak of Feather Fall.
Honourshine: “Ready to go?”
You nod, and exit the house together. As you step outside, the morning air greets you with a fresh, apple-scented breeze. You follow the road south just as the train rolls into the station, and find Moonflower waiting for you on the platform.
Moonflower: “Mornin’!”
While Honourshine walks over to the ticket booth, you greet Moonflower with a hug, and hoof her satchel over.
You give Moonflower’s Magic Satchel to Moonflower.
Moonflower: “Thanks, Blazer! How’d your sleepover go?”
You grin, and tell Moonflower that aside from some minor differences, it was just like old times. You recount that you spent most of the evening studying together, and were able to learn a whole new spell.
Moonflower: “Whoa, cool!”
Once Honourshine returns with her ticket, you proceed to the boarding ramp, and present your guild documents to the conductor. True to the princess’s word, you are allowed free passage, and climb aboard the Friendship Express.
Before long, you are all seated in an open coach, and the train begins to chug into motion. The station slowly slides out of view, and after a wide turn around the local farmlands, Hoofington vanishes behind the autumnal trees of the Everfree Forest.
With more than enough time to chat until you reach the mountains on the horizon, you ask the bat pony how her sleepover went in turn.
Moonflower: “Ooh! It was super fun! Windcaller’s got all kinds o’ music stuff and we played around with a bunch of ‘em. Then we played with cards, did some lovey-dovey stuff, and had a bath before goin’ to bed. How ‘bout’cha?”
Honourshine: “Well, we did share a bath… and a bed… and the company was nice, but I think Blaze enjoyed it more than I did.”
Moonflower: “Heeheehee… it’s always spring for stallions, y’know? Oh yeah! Blazer, did you learn anythin’ from the dream this time?”
You nod — somewhat glad for the abrupt change of subject —, and recount your meeting with the ghostly figure, along with Honourshine’s suggestion about Kirinese monks.
Moonflower: “Got’cha. Lucky we’re goin’ to the Kirin Empire! Maybe we can find some answers there. Oh, and I also visited Basket in his dreams after that.”
You ask her how the colt is doing.
Moonflower: “He’s doin’ okay! He told me he got a letter from the guild, too, but he’s got too much to do at the farm to go on adventures. He’s said he’s wishin’ us good luck, though! It seemed to work at the wishin’ booth. Heehee!”
You smile at that. You remember him saying as much in a letter; that the harvest had been the best in years, just as he wished upon a star. A modest wish compared to yours, to be sure, but so it goes…
The train hisses to a halt in the lustrous station of Canterlot. You and your friends step out into the cool mountain air, and check the timetable nearby.
A train bound for Fillydelphia departs every hour until sunset, allowing you to resume your travels whenever you see fit. That said, the kingdom’s eastern shore is about half a day’s ride away.
With that in mind, you take a moment to consider what to do next.
