Original Description:

An original character from my fanfic, The Tale of Two Sisters. He is designed to be a generic Royal Guard, during Equestria’s Third Era and the reign of King Cosmos and Queen Stella, Celestia and Luna’s parents. Ustiarius is literally Old Ponish (Latin) for ‘door guard’, and that’s exactly what his cutie mark symbolises. With a rough upbringing and living as a street urchin for his formative years, he eventually found purpose on the opposite side of the law, and currently serves as a low-rank guard in Canterlot Palace. He shares a colour palette with the common white-and-blue guard from MLP:FiM, with his only distinguishing trait being his chinstrap facial hair.

This is also the début of the Royal Guard armour, which has seen many design iterations over the years, but I feel this one best captures the practicality and ceremony of being a palace guard. It features enough room for pegasus wings at the side, and a pluggable hole in the helmet for unicorns. On the flank-shield is the the Royal Guard motto: Libertatem Omnibus Equestria, or ‘Freedom for All Equestria’, which was coined after the fall of the tyrant Grogar.

The left one was drawn in a single 8-hour sitting through the night, and the right one was drawn 3 months ago for the Derpibooru community collab, though both were traced from older pencil art; 2022 and 2023 respectively. A full design sheet for the uniform will be coming later™, along with the Valkyrie uniform, which has been a WIP for a very long time (shocker).
