Many, many years had passed since Pear Blossom, now Orange Blossom, was kicked off her family farm. In those lonely days, she found enormous success in Manehattan, growing her own business with oranges and all she could do with them. With the help of a new friend she’d made along the way called, known to her as Chic Orange, her business exploded and she easily made her way up the ladder of high society.
She soon married the stallion who’d befriended her and kept in touch with her sister, Pear Butter, back in Ponyville. News of her death, along with Bright Mac’s, nearly destroyed Orange Blossom. Had her husband not been there with her, she may have lost all hope.
Still, she had her nephew and nieces to think about. She even went so far as to allow Applejack to stay with her when the rustic pony was considering the fancy life of an elite (though Orange Blossom knew there was too much of her sister in Applejack to ever consider city life).
A big surprise came, however, when she became pregnant with Sunny Daze and Peachy Pie. The twins were a handful but when they both received their cutie marks, having nothing to do with Oranges, she showered them with love and praise.
And then, on a particularly busy day at the shop, Orange Blossom returned home to find a very unwelcome visitor in her living room. It was her father, Grand Pear, being adored by his grandfillies who wove orange blossoms into his mane and tail. Her husband was there, too, helping them, while all she could do was freeze in the doorway. Unpleasant memories came flooding back to her as she watched her daughters play with their grandfather. She still saw his face from that horrible night: full of fury and disappointment.
Yet here in her home, all she saw was a tired, old stallion willingly letting her daughters accessorize him. Chic had told her so many times to reach out to him, to amend the busted fence, but she was too proud to make the first move (a trait she inherited from her father, of course).
But his stubbornness was gone - he’d made the first move after decades of never speaking to her. And when he saw her in the doorway, she expected his smile to fall. Instead, it only grew and tears built up in his eyes before he spoke, “Hello, sugar cube.”

Holy, moly! I did NOT expect The First Disappointment to be so well received! I may make this an entire series depending on my free time but here’s part 2 of the saga featuring Pear/Orange Blossom and her road to potential healing with her father.
There’s a lot of heartache and hurt to overcome, though, and Grand Pear doesn’t have a lot of time left to fix it all.
